-600

But seriously...there's no "SAT Cutoff" for any normal college. I think you could be a match with around 2250+ and a "solid" (used loosely) match at 2300+.

Princeton Review gives the 25th percentile numbers as CR670 M680 and W670. Obviously some people scored below one of these limits who were not below the 25th percentile over all, so if someones stats are below all three of these numbers they would be in a much lower percentile. In this range they could compensate with excellent GPAs and some outstanding talent.

I don't know of any colleges that employ SAT cutoff marks, and Columbia certainly doesn't.

I would use the middle 50% range as a guide -- Since Columbia's is high 1300s to low 1500s, I'd say that scoring below the high 1300s puts you at a disadvantage, standardized testing-wise.

ops hmm guess columbia's site updated and didnt include SAT mark break down this year -.-

quote from admission's site:
"The middle 50% of admitted students scored between a 1380 and a 1530 on the SAT. "

The people with the really awful low scores are going to be athletes and truly underrepresented people. Most of them are rejected, but a few will get in despite their really low score. So, it isn't as if every athlete or underrepresented person has an awful score. I know of 1000-1100 scores.

If you're not a minority or an athlete, I'd say that you're better off playing the lottery if you have below a 1300. There are no official cutoffs, but I'm just giving you an arbitrary benchmark that is quite far from what Columbia likes to see.

If you have to ask..

i agree with columbia2002....i also know of people with 1000-1100 scores but they are athletes

so if you get a 1400+ forsae .. will u automatically be rejected ?
as i read.. so many people have 800s in all SAT II's and nearly perfect SAT's
though i may be able to achieve that goal.. not everyone is skilled in standarized test..

hopefully columbia looks at the type of person they are and what they have been involved in

my hospital is columbia presbyterian lol .. what a surprise

your question makes no sense....try again

No; I believe the majority of Columbians had SATs somewhere in the 1400s. Your chances for admission go either up or down somewhat considerably outside the 1400s bracket though, it seems.

sorry bout that sharaf ..

i mean that is scoring a 1400 bad for columbia
do they mainly wanna see 2200+ ?
but as columbia2002 states it doesnt seem that way

thanks guys

columbia2002, columbia2007 and I are all talking about the old 1600 scale since thats the SAT that we took. It's hard for us to predict on the new scale really but i would say 700s on all three meaning about 2100 would be equivilent to 1400 and like 2000 would be like a 1300.

****, yes, I keep forgetting these kids are taking it with a different scoring system. I'm not sure how translatable they are, since the old SAT was just math and verbal, whereas writing now represents a third of the score.

Is English your first language?

Is a 1360 (760M 600CR) on the low side for columbia? Im really worried about my reading, though im gunna try to improve.......

The 600 reading itself is very low. 1360 is obviously on the low side, but isn't fatal. If you had 680/680, you'd still have an uphill battle, but it wouldn't be as bad. At least you only have one thing to work on.

how much will one low section hurt... i.e.: one section below 700... even if you have over a 2100/ 1400 overall?

i know that no one knows for sure... just looking for some opinions...

yea i know that 600 is really low..... its so hard to improve CR though... but will that one section hold me back that much? i know my math is over the maximum range of columbia i think.

how did u prep so well for math .. im good in critical reading and writing but a lil bit low in math .. yet im in honors and doing great . strange... lol

any pointers
