What is the prettiest campus?

UW Madison

Recent sightings: Someone is going in! (June 6, 2008)

I like Sherman's typology, even if I disagree that the Stanford campus is anything to write home about. (Palm trees and stucco, oh my!)

And I also feel that man-made landscaping is really a question of fertilizer and manpower. Given the strength of Cornell's horticulture program and the Plantations, Cornell could easily beef up the day to day look of its natural landscaping, but instead realizes that it is largely a waste of money and detrimental to the environment. Instead, Cornell takes more of an "English" approach to its gardens:

To this typology I would add "quaint" campuses. Williams comes to mind.

How can you argue that Stanford is ugly?
seriously you don't get much better than Palm Drive with the mountains in the background: http://bioengineering.stanford.edu/images/community_palmdrive.jpg

plus the campus at night is absolutely gorgeous, especially the church: http://cva.stanford.edu/people/davidbbs/photos/stanford_memorial_church/memorial%20church%20night%205%20percent%20thumbnail%20(83MP).jpg

Different strokes for different folks.

^That's what she said

prettiest:
Wellesley, hands down

then:
Yale
Boston College
Columbia

Didn't care for Harvard (it was so...square. And...red), MIT (one of the buildings looked exactly like a shoe factory I once saw in China), or BU (dorms were gorgeous but there was basically NO campus).

haven't visited any colleges outside of the East Coast but I bet a lot of them in the South are really nice.

Most of the dorms at BU are horrendous...

^ well, they were pretty on the outside...

i love gothic buildings...like princeton...to me, that is the prettiest. but i'm biased cuz i used to live there. haha. i know that yale and cornell are gorgeous too.

From first-hand experience, I can tell you they're not particularly nice on the inside, and the price you pay for housing is insane.

Pepperdine and UCSC in terms of most beautiful. I dont know what the hell you guys are talking about. Yale.... are you serious? pepperdine and ucsc practically have beach views

Yale has gorgeous Gothic architecture that, IMHO, no California school can compete with. Plus, I hate hot weather. And palm trees are ugly.

Strokes, folks, etc.

^ i dont know what the hell you are talking about. pepperdine and ucsc got voted like best looking campuses

There are so many georgeous ones. Two more that deserved to be mentioned for their beauty: SMU (perfect neo-Georgian, great campus layout), and University of Washington (some majestic buildings, trees, and fabulous view of Mt. Ranier)

Berkeley .

I'm an east coaster but I vote for UC Santa Cruz. I spent so much time looking at the trees and buildings I kept stepping on banana slugs. They are squishy.

Boston College has a beautiful campus, best I've seen.

Cornell's campus is also amazing.

Stanford. Cornell.

Wellesley has a really pretty campus, especially in the fall.

Stanford is nice
