what is the process if you're taking more than 19 units?

I know i know what you're thinking. My schedule for next quarter is actually pretty light (Hebrew (i already know it), arabic, hist 111c, and ancient jewish history)..what i'm doing is not adding another academic class, but a music performance class.

I'm at 18 units right now, but how do i go abouts petitioning for that extra unit (i'd be at 20)?

I think you have to pay a visit to the first floor of Murphy Hall with your Bruin Card and whatever academic evidence you can muster proving that you can handle the workload.

My daughter is studying abroad in London, UK. She contacted her UCLA adviser via email and phone and was able to sign up for 20 units for fall 2006. You do have to meet certain academic requirements. Good luck!

I think the evidence would be a 3.5 gpa the previous quarter.

yeah go to first floor murphy (the windows by the counselors' office) and ask for 20 units and they'll give it to you if you have evidence that you can handle your current workload (3.5 GPA? or 3.0? i forgot...)

Eligibility: To be eligible for excess units, you must meet ALL of the following conditions:

Be in good academic standing
Have a cumulative GPA > 3.0
Have earned a GPA of > 3.0 in at least 12 units during the last quarter completed. Grade cards verifying the GPA are okay.
If you do not have an established UC GPA (i.e., you are an entering student), you are not eligible for excess units until you have established a UC GPA.

Oh ok, 3.0 it is. Sorry!
