What is the purpose of human life?

To fatten ourselves up for the alien landing....

to build relationships

puff puff pass.

have more than 2 surviving children so that your species can survive, expand and take over the world/universe.

So it's basically to have sex.

The observed life is one continual existentialist crisis.

Continual and but not continuous - even existentialists need to get laid.

Wow, quite a strong showing of existentialists and nihilists on CC. Go figure!

I think it's because we have smarter than average people here. When you look objectively at human life, they start to become the obvious answers.

Subjectivity is as relevant as objectivity. Every human views reality through his unique and personal lens. Take some psychedelics - twist your mind. The answers are not as obvious as you think. Contrary to popular belief, there still exist unknown unknowns.

It has to be something that is natural from birth. Therefore no "learned" things like "to have fun" because hundreds of thousands of years ago we didn't care about "having fun". We existed to survive and reproduce, so the purpose must still be the same.

The question in this topic is phrased in an objective way. It is not "what is your purpose in life" but "what is the purpose of human life."

Anyways, an argument in subjective terms is meaningless because nobody can be completely right to the exclusion of all others. An objective analysis is the only truly meaningful ground for discussion.

Err... no, thanks, I'd rather not.

Care to explain to me why not?

What the hell does that even mean?

Well according to Einstein it is to "Solve as much of the puzzle as possible before you die."

Clearly, there are things we don't even know we don't know.

Anyway, I like what Einstein said. Stick some puzzle pieces in, see how they fit. We obviously can't solve life, but we can try, and that's where the meaning is, I think.

...And we are definitely making an assumption here that there is a sole purpose. Better yet, the answer could be so huge and complex that our brains will never reach it. Now, let's continue to dance in circles till nobody knows who they are or what they're doing, shall we?

purpose of human is to make babies

The purpose of all life is to survive. You filter all your choices from religion to occupation through this idea.

That's why sex is such a common goal, it is genetic survival. There are parts of your DNA that could be millions of years old- information that was not lost to the abyss.

Lol @ the fact that some people are still selfish enough to think that they have an actual purpose.

Unless you think that someday we are going to find out we were made by super advanced aliens as part of an experiment or something similar, I don't see how what we don't know could possibly affect the answer to the purpose question.

To answer questions.

Well I'm just glad some people seem to think they got it all figured out. While not directly entirely at you, it just doesn't seem its good enough to say "Well when people finally get smart enough they will see it my way".

Noooo, that's the ultimate answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything. Far more interesting than this silly "purpose of human life" stuff any day!

[/quote]

human life falls under life, the universe, and everything! durr

Make the world a better place for future generations.

a. I believe this was said already, but it is 42.

b. Does it really matter? If the big bang is actually how this whole thing got started, it was an accident, just an odd coincidence. Also, if you believe multiverse theory, then every single possibility of this world that doesn’t come to pass is coming to pass in another realm of existence. The whole idea of having a purpose in the first place is to fulfill that purpose, and if every plane of existence has a different outcome, a purpose can’t exist.
So basically, do what you want. Figure out what your purpose is. That’s cheesy and cliche, but whatever.
