what is the quadratic function?

<p>i am confused right now . what is the name of the graph that contains X^2 and the one that contains X^3 and how to differentiate between them . for example check this qu.
--> the graph of a quadratic function and the garph of a linear function in the xy -corrdinate can intersect in at most how many points?

B)2
C)3
D)4
E)more than 4
if the quadratic function here refers to x^3 then there are three points but if it refers to x^2 then the answer is 2 . here is my problem . pplz help ! and thanx</p>
