I have been tracing the online info about acceptance rate, but I only encounter the 2009 data. Does anyone know if there is a difference from last year, which was, acc. to US News 42 percent? It seems that it should be lower based on the applicant stats shown at CC.

Found it. 44.6% acceptance rate for Fall 2010. The number of applications was lower for Fall 2010.

26,147 Applications
11,671 Admitted

Here is the freshman profile for 2011.
[University of Maryland - Freshman Profile Information](http://www.admissions.umd.edu/admissions/counselor/freshmanprofile.asp)

For the Fall 2011 Freshman class, we received over 25,500 applications for a class of 3,975.

For the Fall of 2011, students admitted to the University of Maryland have an average (weighted) GPA of 4.05 and the middle 50% of SAT scores ranged from 1250 to 1400, and between 28-32 on the ACT. As a result 25% of the admitted students scored below a 1250 on the SAT and 25% scored above a 1400.

thanks for the information, so interesting!. I wonder if the drop in aplications had any correlation with the OOS costs, and if the in -stater number of applicants remained the same. Also, it is interesting that from 37 percent aaceptance rate in 2008 it went up to to 44, that I cannot come up with anything. any thoughts?

UMD might have expanded (this is just speculation) to accommodate a larger incoming class.

If you look at the statistics, you can clearly see that UMD accepted less people this year. The only reason that the acceptance rate is higher this year is because the number of applications was lower by 2300.
