I have mine this Saturday and have been reading threads but they only seem to get me more comfused. So far I’ve gathered that it’s a formal event and I should take my resume. Beyond that I have a few questions:
How long is it generally?
Is it a 1-1 or panel kind of thing?
Do they have specific kinds of questions they like to ask?
Is it something you should only go by yourseld or with parents?
Is the interviewer familiar with my application and letters of rec?
I really appreciate any responses!
My son interviewed in Los Angeles, so I don’t know if the same is true for interviewing on campus. In LA, the interviews were held in a hotel. You arrived and checked in and went into a big room with refreshments and lots of tables. Pretty much everyone had at least one parent with them. The Cal Parents group was there to answer parent questions. There are refreshments. You sit at a table with a bunch of other students (and their parents) and a current Berkeley student who kind of leads the conversation and is available for any questions you might have. The different professors interviewing come in to get the students for a one on one interview. I think my son was gone for about 20-30 minutes. I think he was asked about a few of his extra curricular activities. He had just returned from a Youth and Government conference, so I know they talked about that. They talked about sports. The professor asked what kind of activities/clubs he was interested in possibly joining at Cal and told him some of the clubs that they have. My son’s advice is to just be yourself.
@LindsayHarvard How did your interview go? My son goes in on Saturday. Any tips?
