What is the right move to make? (TAG)

So I've just submitted my TAG for UC Davis Fall 2015 for a non-impacted major. My GPA is right on the mark for the TAG requirement at 3.2.

What is happening now is something that's giving me horrible fears of not being able to transfer. I'm doing quite poorly in a few classes and it's quite possible I might fail a 5 unit math course. This math is on the assist.org list for classes recommended to take for my major, but is not a class that is required prior to transfer.

While failing this class would not put me below a 2.0 for the semester GPA, it would lower my overall GPA anywhere from 3.14 to 3.08. I've been told that if my GPA dips below the 3.2 requirement for the fall semester, I can't just raise it back up in the spring with GPA boosting classes, as the two semesters are viewed differently. My fear in this situation is failing to maintain the GPA requirement.

An option that I wondered about would be withdrawing from the class and earning a "W", completely negating the GPA problem, though this would cause me to now fail the full-time enrollment requirement. But I heard this is alright in some sense as long as you give an explanation, though how lenient is that method?

I've been worrying about this as my class has been progressing, any knowledgeable advice or experience is welcomed. What is the strategic thing to do? I've been in CC for a very long time and not being able to transfer finally would crush me.

Thanks

How did you just submit a TAG application?! The deadline was in September.

Well okay, “just” is maybe kind of an exaggeration. I submitted it before the deadline.
