I heard its commuter school so just wondering. IS there any fun at all?
Was this anyone’s first choice as a school?
I’m a second year here. It is true that we are a commuter school. The campus is mostly dead on the weekends and even in the freshman dorm halls sometimes. However, many of us are involved in clubs and greek life. There are over 350 clubs at UCR meaning there’s probably a club for every interest or hobby you may have. Joining a club definitely makes things more fun. We also have the best music concerts. This year, Post Malone is coming for Heat. Our concerts tend to be great for everyone. As for the first choice thing, that varies widely. Many of us were accepted into other UC’s but since UCR tends to be very generous with financial aid, those who got into other UC’s choose UCR for financial reasons. The “UC Rejects” mentality is fading away fast. The school has become more selective and the amount of applications we receive has grown exponentially. This would seem to indicate that there are many people who would love to get accepted here and/or go here. Still, I would say for most of us that when you remove the financial aid element UCR wouldn’t be our first choice.
Thank you, what do you have to do to get yourself signed up to impacted classes? If you are unlucky and cannot officially registered, can you still go to classes and hope that after a couple of weeks, some people may drop out and give you the vacancy?
I visited, and they have really nice pizza :).
Overall though, I felt like the campus was very calm and relaxing.
