Hi, I'm interested in perusing a business career, and I'm looking at Cal right now. Is there a good place to see what courses are offered and their descriptions? I've checked Home Page - Online Schedule Of Classes but I couldn't find the courses they are offering.

Anyway, can anyone post the standard course load/prerequisite for pre-haas? If there isn't one, can someone who is in Haas or planing on it post their schedule? I want to do some research on some classes before making my final decision.

BTW, I am currently deciding between UNC w/ half tuition, USC w/ half tuition, Berkeley OOS tuition, WUSTL, and Michigan OOS tuition. I'm leaning towards Berkeley, as money is not a problem, but can you guys give more reasons as to why I should pick Berkeley? Thanks!

The pre-reqs for the major are Econ 1, UGBA 10, Math 1A or 16A, and Stats 20, 21, or 25. They also require you complete your 7 Breadth requirements for the College of L&S and an addition Literature classes from a list that Haas provides. It’s a good idea to take one pre-req each semester as those will be your most important classes, so you don’t want to overload yourself and get not so good grades on them.

Also, make sure to plan for a back-up major as well. Econ is a common one, so research the pre-reqs on those and take them along with the pre-reqs for Haas. Or if you don’t want to go into Econ, you could try any other major that you are also interested in.

You should generally be taking 15-16 units per semester along with 2 breadth courses each semester until you finish them (of course, one semester will only have 1 breadth course since there are 7). With your actual Haas pre-reqs, you should take about 1-2 pre-reqs per semester. I suggest spreading apart UGBA, econ, and statistics because those are the harder (relatively speaking) ones. Also, I recommend finishing up your R&C requirements early because of two reasons: you might not be able to find an R&C course to take if u procrastinate, and it’s very helpful to improve your writing skills before taking those writing-intensive humanity classes.

The important thing is to not overload yourself. Fix your schedule up so you know you can dominate your classes and not let them dominate you. There’s really no point in taking all of the Haas pre-reqs at once, unless you’re some crazy engineering/pre-med/cs/business double major.
