What is the value of Math I?

I've been scouring these boards and people keep saying universities (particularly the good ones, eg the Ivy League) would rather students taking Maths II. Is this is the case? What is the point of taking Math I?

Wharton business school asked for a math subject test for their SAT requirement. Does this mean I have to take Math II? I'm good at math but I'm not used to the SAT's style of mathematics. Would I be crippling my application/would there be any use if I took Math I?

IMO, if you take a math subject test, take Math II. Taking Math II shows colleges that you’d rather challenge yourself more, as opposed to simply taking Math I. For Math II, you only need up to pre-calc and a little bit of stats. You have 50 questions to do in 60 minutes, so just use the regular test-taking stuff you’ve seen before.
