Hi, I am a senior from Alaska.

Is it always miserably hot in Houston? One thing I really can't stand is humid hot, and I was hoping maybe past September even Texas would cool down.

by the way, it is -22 here right now. Does Texas ever go negative?

Not in Houston!

Google is your friend - you can look up average temps.

Absolutely not! Obviously the summer is going to be hot and humid, but you get used to it. Everything is air conditioned like crazy. The rest of the year is perfect. I came from a school in Boston, and I can definitely say I prefer two mildly hot months compared to 5-6 months of gray, cold ugliness.

weather sucks. and traffic is terrible.

It’s Christmas Eve and it’s 72 degrees. If you’re a northerner who doesn’t like the gray, cold, and snow, then I guess Houston would be a relief – for the non-summer months. Summer is CRAZY HOT, PLUS 100% humidity (I’m talking triple-digits). Not even the shade is enough, and it constantly feels like you can’t stay outside for more than 10 minutes.

As for the other 3 seasons, they’re pretty mild. If Houston is lucky, we’d have days when it actually freezes. 3 and 4 years ago, we had snow – just never stuck to the ground.

its dark and rainy and hot and icky

I lived in Alaska for a time so I can attest, it’s going to be a lot different than what you are used to. It’s a lot more humid in Houston (well, depending on where in AK you are) pretty much year round, and summers are hot as has been said. But for a lot of the year, I would describe it as mild. Not quite summer in Anchorage, though. A lot more sun, less overcast.

CallmeMaybee, that’s enough. Take it from someone at Rice currently, I have rarely heard anyone complain about our weather. Yeah, it’s going to be hot and humid for the first couple weeks and towards the end. Yes, it’s going to rain a few days. Suck it up; Rice’s benefits greatly outweigh any weather anomalies that you might incur.

Houston is hot. The humidity is outlandish. And it rains hot lava

Hey but lets listen to wallaceicy06

its ONLY hot for like i dont know like the first week on campus. then its a breeze from there!
