What is there to do on weekends?

I'm sure there's a lot of stuff going on, but what kinds of things do Cornell students like to do on and off-campus on weekends? How accessible are the shopping/entertainment centers of Ithaca?

When I went to visit, I went into collegetown it seemed like there was just a block of places to eat and maybe a few lounges. I stayed there for the weekend and talked to a lot of students their plans for the weekend were to go up to Binghampton or Syracuse for parties. They told me thats what they usually do. They told me to right away make friends with people that have cars(lol). The shopping centers are nearby there is a Target and other such stores (buses run constantly from the campus to the mall). There is a lot going on on campus there are plenty of clubs that plan trips and activities. I guess its easy to get isolated there so I think right away you need to make a group of friends that share common interests with you and I think then you will be good to go.

Go to Target.

people go to syracuse to shop (big mall there). Nobody goes to Binghamton to have fun, it's a town even smaller and more isolated than ithaca.

Only people I ever know that do that are transfers from bing. Most people stay on campus for parties w/o a doubt. (esp from wat I've seen).

The nearby pyramid mall is really nice coming from someone from a small town. Everyone hates on it tho lol.

figgy, go to carousel mall in syracuse (right off of 81, easy to get to) and you'll see how pyramid mall is dwarfed.

still, I like pyramid - the new movie theaters are amazing.

"The nearby pyramid mall is really nice coming from someone from a small town."

Never thought I'd hear pyramid mall called "nice." Regal Theaters tend to suck. I know some of the screens at the Regal in Ithaca didn't have cupholders. The Regal in Bethesda, MD where I go to now have ridiculously small viewing rooms (honestly, they hold like 30 people).

the new theaters are really nice - not only do they have cup holders but the arm rests are even padded.

the mall sucks--I mean, its got target and a movie theater and those are pretty much the highlights. Other than that....there are only parties. lots of parties.

Cornell University - Events Calendar

I love playing pool/billiards. Is there a place on campus where I can do that ? or will I have to buy a table for my room

there's a really nice pool hall in Robert Purcel community center right in the middle of north campus.

There's also a pool table in Noyes on West.

The movie theater is realllly nice. Giant leatherish seats with a ton of leg room = amazing.

The mall has every single clothing store and then some random department stores. Seems great to me...lol

Pyramid doesn't have the Zegna/Burberry/Prada type stores that people here tend to associate with normality.

lol o ya I always forget about rich people...abercrombie is wat the richest I'm from get so it's awkward that there's another tier that I completely forget about haha

there's a tier above my previously mentioned brands as well (kiton, brioni, hermes, thom browne)

I have no clue what any of those stores are lol

yea same..lol...and I am from jericho,LI where kids learn to say "abercrombie" faster than "mom"...lol. but then again, about 15-20 percent of the graduating class ends up going to Cornell

wow your high school Cornell acceptance rate is really HIGH!

yea...but A LOT of people apply there from my high school and almost every1 who is applying except me has a legacy at Cornell
