What is this essay question asking for? HELP!

What led you to choose the area(s) of academic interest that you have listed in your application to the University of Michigan? If you are undecided, what areas are you most interested in, and why?

Im planning on majoring in economics so would it work to talk about what I like about economics, and why I chose to select UofM?..

I thought possibly talking about how economics combines my analytical/mathematical interests and my interests in more human based factors, such as the motivations of humans. ie: pyschology

Then I thought I could go into how Im considering majoring in econ and minoring in pyschology.

If I did this would I come across as fake or forced, since it doesnt focus on any tangible examples, and is instead me just stating my thoughts and feelings?

Or are they looking more for a concrete example of when I first learned that I liked economics? Or the process?... Because I dont really have any interesting anecdote or story to answer it like this..

Any ideas? HELP!

You don't need a cute little anecdote. Just answer the question-- what led you to be interested in economics. Ask yourself that- perhaps make some notes about what it is about economics/pysch that interest you. When you first realized and what you have done with that realization. Stuff like that.
