What is this mysterious email?

I submitted my stuff by October 14th and all the other stuff by October 20th but did not receive an email telling me that I am early action or whatever, is this bad?

no. there were a lot of people that had everything in by Sep. and they didn’t get the e-mail. do what i did: call the undergrad. office and ask the guy if you made the ED deadline. he/she’ll let you know

no, it is NOT BAD. just wait, there are a ton of people who applied before you did and still haven’t gotten their emails yet. i would wait a few weeks, and if nothing comes in just call the admissions office. just because they send you an email saying you made the ED deadline doesn’t mean that you are an ED applicant, there are other ways to make sure

Dear INSERT NAME HERE:

This communication confirms that your application was received by the Early Response deadline. If the rest of your materials (written responses, transcript(s), counselor and academic teacher recommendations, and test scores) were submitted by the deadline, you will be evaluated for our Early Response program.

It will take us some time to process all electronic and paper application documents that were submitted by the Early Response deadline as our mail volume is extremely high due to the large number of submissions near the deadline. Therefore, please allow one week from today before checking the status of your application online at [Wolverine Access](http://wolverineaccess.umich.edu) to verify your information and to ensure that our office has matched all application materials submitted. For instructions on how to check your status online, please see [Office of Undergraduate Admissions: Application Status](Application Status | University of Michigan Office of Undergraduate Admissions).

Go to [Office of Undergraduate Admissions: Early Response](http://www.admissions.umich.edu/prospective/applying/earlyresponse.php) for more information about our Early Response program.
as a follow-up to that post: I applied on Oct. 30, quite near the deadline. most my application materials were received by Nov. 11 (b/c of the large volume of apps. coming in on/near the deadline)

so I guess this was like a reassurance of some sort that we’re Early even though they only got to our stuff near mid November.
