is it only for CAS applicants?

I guess so as they call it "College of Arts and Science Reception".in the invitation.

LOL.

Man, I'm so excited! Must admit it's frustrating that the NYU officials won't say anything beyond "you should take this as a sign that you will probably recieve an official letter of admission on April 1st" and whatnot. I wanna hear it straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

I got one too and I'm from CA. I believe this is probably a likely letter..

Does NYU send out likely letters? and just like bulletproofx said, why isn't there "CAS admitted student day under April 15th?

oh sorry i meant April 17th as stated in the invitation

I got one yesterday!

I am slightly peeved to have only just learned of this site. Well, whatever, here is to jumping on the bandwagon a little late.

Oh, and also, CONGRATS to those who got one!

for those of you who received one:

can you post your stats?

thanks

am i the only one who thinks this is utterly rediculous. I got one of these things, too, but do you really think a college would invite you to something like this as a means of letting you know that you're accepted. That's completely unprofessional and seemingly unprescedented. If they were trying to tell you you're accepted, why wouldn't they just do it?

unfortunately, yes. It doesn't make any sense that they won't send out real acceptances along with this reception card, but for whatever reason, they don't.

Maybe they just want to know who all will be attending the reception so they are allowing us time to RSVP. Though, they could either send real acceptances earlier or push back the date of the reception... It doesn't make too much sense, does it?

I think it's the same reason why some Ivies send "likely letters." They don't want to announce admissions decisions directly before whatever date they set (March 30, for example), but they'd like to increase the yield by letting preferred applicants know about their acceptance earlier...so basically they go through this weird process of "hinting" that a students has been admitted, but they won't outright say anything definitive. Kind of a "wink wink" type deal, don't you think?

anyone else have something similar happen?

The online registration thing isn't even working yet (for me anyway)...

jaimelajolie check your PMs

omgitsjack the online registration isn't working for me either. and i am not exactly impressed that they sent out these letters, and haven't even changed the dates from last year. :/

wait, they didn't change the dates from last year?! that makes a body feel special.....not. ?! I guess that's your intro to NYU's extremely competent bureaucracy...
