What is this

in the financial aid section of myucd it says my estimated aid

Estimated Financial Aid
Federal Direct Loan Sub-NH 3,500
Federal Perkins Loan-NH 1,000
Entering UG Scholarship - NH 9,716
Total Estimated Financial Aid $ 14,216

what is that UG scholarship? are they really giving me that much money!?
how do i see if i got a cal grant or not?

Yeah, I had that too!!
A couple of hours later, when I checked it again, the CalGrant had been updated and it had been added in. I think they really do give you that much because if you click on the details of the financial aid, and look at the bottom, it says it in green.. at least mine does.

Also- CalGrant should have come in the mail and told you the estimated amounts of three colleges included in your FAFSA. I got it about 2 weeks ago.

i didnt get it yet

did anyone else get this ug scholarship in their efan page?

i'm wondering if because i don't see it i didn't get it, or they still haven't updated everyone's efan page...

Yes i did. they gave me about $7 grand for UG scholarship. I'm almost sure that you need to have filed your FAFSA to qualify for it though.

well that would make sense as i didn't file one

so the scholarship considers need then?

Yup, they use the UG scholarship to finish off any unmet calculated financial need as determined by the financial aid office. It should be renamed to UG "grant" instead since that's basically what it is.

but that would be different than scholarships then right?

meaning, just because i didn't get grant i won't not get a scholarship

right?

or too many negatives in that statement...lol

Well they calculated my total financial need to be $16, 814.

To meet this need, they gave me:

fed direct loan $4,500
fed pell grant $4,310
ucd campus fee grant $630
UG scholarship $7,374

Add that up, and you get $16, 814

yes, the ug scholarship is for financial aid receipients to help cover the unmet need.

ok, thank you for the clarification CE Man

So is the amount they list is pretty much guaranteed if you decide to go?

:O
