I'm writing short answer essays to questions and sometimes I feel compelled to include my experiences with sleep paralysis and night terrors and social anxiety. I feel like they'd fit well with the topic, but then again I feel as if they're way to personal and out of context for a college application. Opinions?

All depends on how you write about it.

I’m worried about the use of the word ‘compelled’ here. Don’t feel you have to blurt out something too personal. Be strategic, this isn’t your journal, you know? I would think it would be hard to address those things properly in a short essay. It could make a school wonder if you will be a horrible roommate to get stuck with–someone who avoids you and wakes up screaming in the night.

Thank you, that’s what I needed to hear. BTW, I’ll be requesting a single dorm for that reason, I actually made another post about it.
