Hey I was recommended to check out Tulane. It seems like a really sweet school but I don't know whole lot about it. You guys are the experts and I was wondering what you guys know about Tulane? Thanks!

We know everything! LOL, your question is pretty broad and you can get a sense of the school by reading recent threads. Maybe a better way to go is for you to tell us what you are looking for in a school; academically, socially, geographically, sizally (ok scratch that, but what size school do you think you want), etc. Nothing is really too trivial, since there are a lot of schools that have similar characteristics and this is a place you will be for at least 4 years, presumably.

Gotcha I mean I have done my research and it is definitely a good fit but maybe what I should have asked is what is it like to be a greenback (if that’s the right term) from a students perspective. What is the town of new Orleans like? What’s the inside scoop and do you guys like it at Tulane?

OK, looks like you are seeking more of the “vibe” from students rather than details on some factual issues. Which is great! I am sure they will weigh in. But it is the Green Wave, lol, not the Greenbacks. It does take a few greenbacks to attend, though.

Correct haha my bad I thought it was a slang term they used but they aren’t good with there money?

I think he means it’s a bit expensive to attend lol

Obviously haha I meant like do they give out money

Yes, Tulane is pretty good with FA and great with merit scholarships. They don’t guarantee 100% of need, but from what everyone on here says they often do and average 95% of need or something like that.

Well I might not be a full-fledged Tulanian yet, but I am a New Orleanian. I can really say New Orleans is doing amazingly well. I promise, if you were to visit Tulane itself and the surrounding areas, you’d have no idea what happened approx 6 years ago.

Still, there are a couple of neighborhoods that have those altogether dilapidated houses interspersed with rebuilt, refurbished homes… It’s really upsetting, actually, to see a house that hasn’t been touched in 6 years, and the sad part is, no one can do a thing about it since it’s private property. Nevertheless, these neighborhoods are entirely residential and don’t have that much affect on the average university student. And the good thing is, these houses are dwindling in number.

New Orleans is just majestic. We really don’t have to worry about those sacrifices the students who came to Tulane in 2006 made…

Awesome Thanks for the feedback! Sorry it took me a while to respond back but thats good to hear. My parents were kinda hesitant when I told that I might be interested in Tulane. But hey you wouldn’t happen to know what the typical student is like there? I understand Tulane is a very diverse school and your going to find every type of person but do you have any insight?
