<p>wow some harsh parents for ppl on here… my parents don’t typically give me allowance, they just give me some money whenever my account runs out… they know im responsible enough to not blow money away and i average about $300 a quarter (probably less)… when i lived in the dorms i ate out about once every 2 weeks or so (19 meals is way more than enough for everyone, with the variety of dining halls i have no problem eating every meal in the dorms, only times i eat out is when a group of friends decides to go to westwood for a change)… i spend some money on other little things such as stationary in the beginning of the quarter, laundry, some new cloth every couple of month when i see a sale (mostly online)
so i would say 50ish is plenty for someone that lives in the dorms, they should be able to eat every meal in the dorms as they have a meal plan, it would be kind of a waste if they eat out a lot… 50 should cover the occasional group dinner in westwood, some of the needs such as laundry, stationary and such… i personally would suggest keeping an eye on what he/she is getting instead of just giving the routine monthly allowance and not care for what it is spent on…</p>
