what is UC?

I've seen that used a lot.

university of california

yeah. The UC's are UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Santa Cruz, UC San Diego, UC Irvine, UC Davis, UC Merced, UC SF (Grad school only. The UC's are extremely popular on this forum not only cuz CA is such a big state but they have low, cheap tuition prices making them the only schools alot of kdis can apply too. UCLA and Berkeley and sometimes SD are the 3 UC's that are sought after nationally.

google would have been a bit faster, lol.

small nit: The UCs do NOT offer much tuition assistance to OOS applicants. AT $25k per year for in-state cost of attendance, Cal's prices are not what one could call "low, cheap..."

You forgot about UC Riverside.

And UC Santa Barbara.

The state of California has two university systems, the University of California system and the California State system. The UC system has 10 campuses, and requires a gradepoint of at least 3.0 to get into. The California State system has 23 or more campuses and does not have system wide requirements on GPAs. Many of the campuses are fairly easy to get into, but some of Cal State schools, such as Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, are actually harder to get into than some of the newer UC's.

Out of state the UC's are very very hard to get in to. In state, most of the UC's are very very hard to get in to.

Take your pick, lol.

As an added note, UC may also refer to the University of Chicago.

Seriously? I searched "UC" in Google, and though the first hit was the University of Cincinnati, the REST OF THE PAGE (except for the last result on the bottom) were of the University of California System.

Bottom line: SEARCH GOOGLE.
