what is the municipality of University Park like?? Is it all campus? Are there restaurants/hotels? What forms of entertainment are there?

Actually, there is no municipality of University Park - that’s the name of the campus itself. But the town (which is called State College) is your typical college town. There are lots of bars, clubs, etc. There are also a couple of malls, numerous large chain stores like WalMart, Target, Macy’s, etc. There are lots of concerts and shows featuring major acts at the Bryce Jordan Center on campus.

I’d strongly suggest taking a tour and checking out the town. There are no major cities nearby, so if State College itself doesn’t have what you’re looking for, you’ll probably have to travel some distance to find a city that does.

The campus itself also host weekly entertainment. Every week, the HUB (student center) will show movies (theater style) that just left the theater and have yet to come out on DVD. Its part of PSU’s Late Night aka the “dry” fun you can have on campus. Its pretty nice.

Their are hotels in the college town, and some a little bit outside of the town too.
Their are resteraunts in town, but their are also places to get food in the HUB (which also has movies, etc.)

There’s a small mall a short drive from penn state, but it’s not worth going to, lol.

Once you’re 21, their are also bars in the town, but many freshman interested in drinking go to frat parties.

I find the whole atmosphere of Penn State to be exciting, whenever I’ve been there (my brother is a rising sophmore) it always seems like something is going on.

Well, they do call it Happy Valley :-)
