What is up with Sophie Davis' unfair admissions?

I applied to Sophie Davis a few months ago with a 1460 SAT, a 4.0 GPA, 90+ on my regents, good extracurriculars, recs and essays, and still haven’t heard back from them, I didn’t even get an interview. A lot of people who go to my school and applied with their 1200 SATS and low GPAs heard back and got interviews and most of them even got accepted. I just find it really unfair, but I’m sure it has something to do with their race or low income.

Did anyone else experience this or is it just me?

By the way, I don’t mean to be offensive in any way. I just don’t understand why I didn’t get at least an interview. I’m just super bummed out about it. I got into NYU, SUNY Cornell and Barnard btw.

It doesn’t matter if you meant to or not; the fact that you’re so quick to assume and denegrate others’ merits when you have no clue what their applications are like is messed up.

Anyway, I think you are paranoid. You haven’t heard back from them yet; that doesn’t mean you’re a reject. Interviews barely ever mean anything, and not getting one may even mean that your app was so good that they don’t even need any more info to make a decision.

The school may also not be looking for someone like you. That doesn’t mean that there is something wrong with you; it may mean that your major had too many applicants or your essay showed a side of your personality which they think may clash with their learning environment. I don’t want to sound cliché, but some schools really do put genuine value into the unquantifiable parts of an app.

Hope this helps your paranoia a bit.

@stressedsnr2019 was it one of your top choices?

Yeah, I talked to a few students who got into the school. Apparently not a lot of kids who get excellent grades get in (not saying that they don’t get good grades just that it’s not like everyone who gets excepted got a 95< avg), but they care allooooot about your essay and volunteer work. Maybe your essay wasn’t as appealing to them as you thought it was.
