So, I got my admission to CALS.
But the letter was so thin!
Is this some kind of joke?
It totally freaked my mother out (who saw it first!)

i was wondering the same thing when i got my acceptance letter to engineering. All the other schools that ive applied to and accepted me sent me brochures, pamphlets, folders, and enrollment information in a huge first-class envelope. But the cornell envelope only had one piece of paper that said "the committee has APPROVED your early decision application"

haha i loved that word "approved." i was like cmon...just tell me im "accepted!"

You already got an acceptance letter to engineering? Not just a likely letter? I thought they didn't do rolling decisions.

notice he said "early decision"

Oh, right. My bad.

If memory serves me correct- The "Big Envelope" comes out 4/1 (or 3/29 or whatever) when all the RD decisions come out. My d also heard (3 years ago) via rolling decision for ILR- and yes it was via e-mail and the skimpy letter in February. But the BIG envelope did eventually come-
Cornell probably sends out all the info to incoming freshman at the same time- so Yes the "big envelope will be coming soon when the RD acceptances go out.

Word to the wise- if it looks like you are going to go to Cornell- start checking out when orientation is- and make hotel reservations NOW if your parents are staying in Ithaca overnight. Hotel rooms are tough to get during these times-so plan ahead.

yeah the early decision was pretty thin. it was basically a "yes you're in now please pay the deposit" and that was it.
i wonder when will the 'official' acceptance come in. i will need that to get my student visa :S

I am pretty sure the acceptance letter ED people got is the "official" letter. All we are waiting on is a housing and dining packet and more brochures. I dont think NetIDs will be assigned until Cornell knows who is going, not just who is accepted (so sometime after May 1st)
