See this abbreviation frequently in the post....anyone can tell me, what is URM?

Under-Represented Minority

That's how it is used here. Did it originally stand for "Underrepresented in Medicine" ?

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) has a new definition of URM: Underrepresented in medicine means those racial and ethnic populations that are underrepresented in the medical profession relative to their numbers in the general population.

So now they can define it any way they want, vs the old definition which mentions specific ethnic groups:

In the past, the AAMC used the term underrepresented minority (URM), which consisted of Blacks, Mexican-Americans, Native Americans (that is, American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians), and mainland Puerto Ricans.

Thanks guys!
