What is UVA good at?

As noted above, I think UVa's med school is quite good; my cousin goes there. We recently visited Charlottesville (my immediate family lives in Northern Virginia), and the campus is quite nice. However, they are pretty finicky about seniority, especially for a state U. Only certain "acknowledged" upperclassmen can have dorms in the old courtyard near Thomas Jefferson's building (the names escape me right now).

The atmosphere at UVa also seems to be quite mellow, and it seems that people are a bit more "preppy" there (no stereotypes, just observations).

Just my impressions from talking to my cousin and visiting the campus.

it's ok if you don't have any Bio classes after your first year... you can still be a Bio major and graduate in 4 years.

Use the opportunity of not getting into what you know you wanted/like to take another class in a different field. Afterall if everyone only took classes for their major they'd be done in less than 2 years...
