What is Vanderbilt so good at? What undergraduate majors at Vandy are considered to be very good? Specifically, how is Vanderbilt for pre-med, engineering, and business?

There is no pre-med program at Vanderbilt. You just major in Biology/Chemistry/BME and then go on to med school.

Their business/management school is amazing!

What business/management school? are you talking about the MBA program?

Yes, the Owen school.

vanderbilt is amazing at bringing beautiful women but unfortunately also annoying southern A holes.

Im actually talking about undergrad business-is economics the only major they have that is business-related? How is their economics program considered?

Economics is one of the most popular majors at Vanderbilt; S's graduating class had about 200 economics majors out of a class of approximately 1500. There is an honors options, but only four of the class pursued that and wrote the required thesis. The HOD major in the Peabody College is also very popular for those interested in entering business.

Thanks. How good is their undergrad engineering? Also, how is Vandy for pre-med (I know its not a major, but is it good for someone planning on going to med school?)?

Engineering is decent. Vanderbilt is not one of the schools that first come to mind when you think "top engineering school" but it's still approximately top 50.

Hey BlackL just so you know buddy-o these "southern A holes" that you're talking about are the reason that all those beautiful women you love flock here.

Also, Vandy is a well rounded school that attracts well rounded people, hence work hard play hard. USC sometimes is mentioned as a similarly well rounded school, but really, there's nothing close.

There are much better schools if you're looking for #1 Engineering or whatever.

I second that ^

But Vandy's BME is ranked 16th in the nation

Vanderbilt is amazing at harboring squirrels.

It has a squirrel to person ratio of 3:1.

If the squirrels approve, then you should too!

"Hey BlackL just so you know buddy-o these "southern A holes" that you're talking about are the reason that all those beautiful women you love flock here."

right....vandy is not known for its guys; it is known for its girls. i am sure the girls come to vandy for the guys. the southern A holes actually come to vandy for the girls.

To whom specifically are you referring? In my experience, Southern people (in general) have been very nice.

I agree with this assessment. I'm from California, so I've been to USC on several occasions and had many high school friends go there. Vanderbilt offers more.

Perhaps the pancake pantry is a confounding variable?

I'd hope there aren't actually people who choose a college based on the appearances of the opposite gender...

^ No, but it's definitely a huge plus.

Actually, people that choose colleges based on the appearance of babes with bodacious bods and secksy sportscars are utilizing far more developed subjective and critical thinking skills than you. By focusing only on criteria that are measurable and as such measured by US News Report, you're limiting yourself to a pretty narrowed array of objective variables. It's a shame, really.

Vandy is about Balance. Work hard play hard. You get a top 20 school with SEC sports. You have great teacher to student ratios where the teachers do care and the school cares. You have a school where you are connected to the student body all four years because you live on campus all four years. Even though the greek system is big only a few people live in the houses thus everyone still lives together. You are in an awesome city with lots of things to do and the student population is diverse. Meaning from all parts of the country, just not the state of which your school is in like Tenn. My S best friends are from NJ, Calif, Wash, Colo. and Texas and he is from Ga. His friends are split half and half between greek and non greek. BALANCE!
