Ok, it is now April 5, and I have no decision. I called admission for the third time in the last 2 weeks, after waiting 15 minutes on the phone, they told me that if I haven't heard by next Monday, to call back. Last week they said I would hear by this Monday. I said "Well April 10, is kind of late considering I got all my other college decisions weeks ago, I'd like to be able to make my college arrangements, but USC is holding me up." All the lady said was "uh huh." I was pretty ticked off. She wasn't in the least bit helpful, and this is getting rediculous. I hate to sound bitter, but USC was considered a safe match for me, and I was hoping I'd even get a scholarship (my stats seem very similar to a lot of the scholarship kids). Not only that, but I applied in October, had an interview in NYC, and showed quite a bit of interest. What are they doing?

what are your stats? i have a friend who got her acceptance really late last year

This sounds crazy. Tell your college advisor and have them yell at USC for you.

Applied to Marshall

SAT 740 CR 730 M 690 W (2160)
SAT II 770 USH 710 Math II
Unweighted GPA 95

Attend public magnet school, all classes are considered honors level, block scheduling, 8 academic classes a year, taking 3 college classes with Seton Hall University this semester, I have A+ in all 3, too bad they didn't see my grades in time.

EC: Sports editor + business manager for newspaper, math club/team pres, tutor homeless kids 3 hours a week, NHS, Multicultural Club, AAU baseball

Awards: A few for newspaper articles I have written

Work experience: Worked full time 2 summers for the US Army in a business management office.

Also like I said before, I had an interview in NYC, and sent my app in late October.

I'm still waiting for the mail today.. if that decision letter isn't in my mailbox, I will be SO angry.

The mailman just came. No mail. I AM *****ING FURIOUS.

I appreciate that you are upset, and you have good reason to be. However, being angry is not going to help you. What I suggest is that you call the Admissions Office. Wait until you get someone on the line. Maintain some patience. And ask for a Supervisor or Manager. If need be, you can calmly inform them that you have spoken with someone before, and that you simply need an answer. They certainly have the capability to look online, and see if you are accepted or not. You can calmly tell them that you met their deadlines for sending in the application, and that your request today is not unreasonable. You can tell them that you have decisions to make, and that you require their confirmaton of acceptance (or not) in order for you to make your decisions. If you come across calmly, you will probably get what you want. AND, the last thing that you want is to have 'your' file marked with some notation that you are a hot-head. Make sense? This is all predicated upon the assumption that you DO possibly want to be admitted into USC. If, on the other hand, you do not want to be admitted, then blow them off, don't call them, don't give it another thought, and forget about it.

My daughter's acceptance letter from USC was dated April 4 and didn't arrive until several days later (a few years ago). She was accepted to Fall Semester. I realize that most of the letters being sent are rejections or Spring Semester admits, but maybe you will be lucky like my daughter. But she was so annoyed at the late acceptance, coupled with the fact that USC determines housing assignments by when you return the housing form, that this helped her choose another school.

USC admissions and financial aid are messed up. Calling does not help because you get a different story from everyone you talk to. But...maybe if you call the school to which you applied you may get a better result. Good Luck. USC's state of confusion has definitely helped my decision making process by eliminating it from my consideration.

Same here. Unless I got $10,000 grant or scholarship, its not worth choosing over McCombs. Texas has 50,000 students and still manages to remain organized and get things out on time.

Same situation as the OP. Applied by the scholarship deadline and everything, really thought I had a good chance...

USC was pretty much my #1 going into the college admissions process (that being if I got into the film program). Now, I've heard back from all other colleges. I've been accepted to my other top choices with some pretty good deals (Harvard with a full ride, and NYU Tisch as well as their selective Tisch Scholars Program)...I'm happy about that, but I'm still annoyed I haven't heard back from USC yet...
I mean, what is going on?!

roadrunner, are you waiting for Marshall too? What are your stats?

Harvard full ride v. USC? Why do you even care about USC? Head for Boston. I'm heading for Stanford and they gave me virtually no money.

Strange. I received my acceptance letter March 2nd; quite a while before many others. However, I didn't apply for financial aid. I hope I was admitted with honors so I can do the joint-degree program.

I did not apply to Marshall. I applied to the regular college.

NO financial aid, NO scholarships.

Stats:
ACT: 32 (11 writing)
SAT II: 800 Math Level 2, 790 Japanese, 710 US History
GPA: 3.29 uw

Decent ECs
Very good essays (most likely what got me waitlisted instead of an outright rejection at Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism)

Roadrunner, no scholarships/fin. aid because you didn't apply or qualify? Are you planning to attend USC in Fall '06?

I didn't apply.

I haven't received my decision yet. That's why I'm posting here.

STILL no decision? What's up with USC? I thought they said everyone will be notified by April 1st... quite strange... I received my decision March 2nd - well ahead of many people.

I got it aronud March 10-15 ish.. in my spring break. made it the greatest spring break ever.

April 6, and no decision. I called again, and they outright refuse to tell me. They said I have to wait till Monday April 10. That is rediculous. My deposit needs to be in at whatever school I go to by May 1, and some of the schools you get worse housing the later you enroll. Thanks a lot USC.
