So today in math, this girl stole my protractor, and I jokingly (with a smile on, in a playful tone) said "you bastard", now I say this kinda thing a lot, usually with my friends, and they all laugh and such.

But today was different. A girl right across from the one who stole my protractor said "That was rude!" in a cold voice, and the girl right next to her (I'm the only guy in a table of 4) said "What do you expect, it's Alex Mitu we're talking about". When she said that, it stung, and I didn't know what to say or do, so I just kinda became quiet.

Anyway, about 2 minutes later, another girl at the table next to us jokingly said "you bastards" to her table, I guess they were pulling funny **** on each other or something, and everyone laughed.

Sorry for the long ass rant, but it's bothering me. I texted one of my friends, asking if I really was indeed rude, and she said "yeah, you say rude things a lot". Do people not know the different between a joke, and being truly mean, or is something wrong with me?

hahah. She took it a little too hard imo. If someone said that to me, I wouldn’t care.

But ■■■■■■■ is a little too strong for people you don’t know that well. Typically you joke like that with friends and people that you know who can take a joke. I would just avoid saying that to “acquaintances” and especially girl acquaintances.

And maybe the girls were joking about it as well? At the very least you could’ve laughed and said “I was just kidding” when they made the “Alex Mitu” comment.

you should say “just kidding” afterwards to ensure that you’re just joking. sometimes people who say something mean playfully or jokingly can be taken as something seriously

why she is getting mad if she stole your protractor? I hate people like that, they think they can get away with anything. Americans (even though I am American) are so comformist, they want everything easy and try to get the best grades in school with least amount of work. Now when they go to college they just want to party, then when they look for a job and dont find one they blame so many people but themselves . . . I feel like ranting too . . . lol
