pixel: 2nd sem seems to be going really well. D1’s roommate is whiney and needy, D2’s is a total slob but makes up for it by being a good friend…and D2 is not even remotely tidy so it works for them. Both love the school though wish they had more on campus meal options, especially on weekends. I am assuming some studying is happening but as their friendships have refined and redefined themselves the order of most days seems to be fun. As their social lives were pretty self limited in high school I am tickled that they are enjoying that aspect of college as much as they are.

^^ Must be a relief isn’t it, at least the kids are safe and happy.

a relief from what, pix? I worry about you worrying too much!

How’s your son doing in the college game so far? Anyone emerged as the clear favorite?

Hi pixel: Has a new thread been started on 2nd sem updates? I’m kinda new to CC, so apologies for jumping in late!

My “update” - D1 is happier than I’ve ever seen her. She loves her professors, works hard, has made many friends, and got good grades in her first sem. Her pet peeves are sloppiness (roomie/suitemates - D1 has half-jokingly used the word “biohazard”) and excessive noise (boys down the hall). She has also had her share of “boy issues”. It’s all pretty endearing and I love that she doesn’t hesitate to share all this with her parents.

SingDanceRunLife: D1 has complained about on-campus food as well, but only because it does get repetitive. Luckily there are many off-campus options. It’s likely she’ll appreciate home cooking so much more!

She keeps really crazy hours though (my pet peeve!). Up til 3am then napping after her 8am. Although I’m sure that’s normal among college kids.

:) poetgrl

Son only has Santa Clara until now. No other news. Although he was in the newspaper here, he downplays his EC achievement and wants to just let things turn out the way they are meant to be. I worry about this kid!!

Younger Son is a Soph now and its almost about to start again, you know the gig, the AP’s the SAT 2’s!!! His interests are way different than older sons. DS1 is a Math/Physics/CS kinda guy and this one is History and Spanish.

DS1 rarely studied and got a 3.5 and this one puts in hard work and has a 3.6!!

Mirall, I should start another thread…whatsay? Not about pet peeve but more about the academics and social environment.
