What is your current UW status?

BubbleTeaChibi-- just read your post, very helpful! I just got an unofficial transcript to load and am flipping out… does this mean I"m in?? ahhh!

Yaay! Congrats limabean!

Glad my post helped! :D

Seriously?! This is amazing!! I just hope I get a letter in the mail soon!!

Yeah! Give it a bit of time though, since you’re from California! (Super congrats for getting in as an OOS student!) Also, they’ve probably printed out your letter but might take a while before they actually mail it. My letter was dated several days before the postmark date.

Good to know, Thank you so much! I am so thrilled, I love UW!

so… becoming a Husky next year? ;)

Just got the packet this afternoon! That was fast!

Definitely one of my top choices. I applied to UC’s as well, which obviously make more sense for me money wise, but I just love the UW. So much.

How likely is it to get any Merit Aid from UW? I probably won’t qualify for financial.

As far as I know, they’re pretty stingy with money… -_-;; However, there are some Merit Scholarships that they do give out. It’s pretty hard to get them though. I know there are a few specifically for OOS.

Funny, my S app status used to say: “Your application is awaiting an initial review.” Now it says “Your application is awaiting review.” In other words, they reworded the status to make it sound like they haven’t completely neglected the app for 10 weeks. I know that when a status changes, there will be a status update date after the status message. No such date is included, so I believe the bureaucrats did what bureaucrats do best – they are using a different language to make it sound like they are on top of the situation.

Am I misunderstanding this change in wording or did they really do what I think they did – change status message without really doing anything.

Growing increasingly cynical of the whole “holistic approach to applications” message UW wants us to swallow.

My experience dealing with people at UW admissions has been very positive. I think they are doing a fantastic job given the number of applications they have to handle. Many colleges wait until April 1st to announce admission decisions unlike UW. I don’t see them as faceless bureaucrats at all. They are very friendly and helpful.

rational2, things should start happening now. This is my timeline.
12/13- awaiting review
12/15- received all materials…
12/22- reviewed… and unoffical transcripts uploaded.
Hang in there.

gimmel, thanks. So there is a difference between “initial review” and “review”?

random question–

is it harder for OOS students to get into UW? I know there into the whole diversity thing so do you think that if they get someone from a state they don’t really have many people from that I have a better chance of getting in? Or are the stakes higher for out of staters because we aren’t from the washington area?

Anyone know?

i’m from VT by the way…I have a feeling there aren’t many of us out there in Washington.

The acceptance rates show that it should be harder for OOS to get into UW, but with the budget cuts, I’m sure UW is more than willing to accept more OOS and international students for the benefit of the university, faculty, and students.

I’m beginning to wonder if maybe its not a good thing for an OOS student to be accepted. With budget cuts (reduced classes, 5-year minimum grad rate, etc.), reduced merit scholarships and probably a rapidly rising OOS tuition rate, I have a feeling a lot of OOS accepted students may choose elsewhere. If the admission standards are higher for OOS (which they probably are), then most admitted OOS probably have UW as a safety school … and may be looking at private colleges that have more generous aid packages to offer. hmmmm.

hi again,

so does anyone know what this means??:

So my status still says the whole "we have received all materials…"blahblah but now under “Transcripts Received” it says unofficial transcript Kimball (my school). Is this the thing that everyone is talking about?? Because i can’t click on it…I think that it is just saying that uw got my mid year grades because the date that they entered them was today, but I’m still really confused. Above it there is another “unofficial Harwood” (my old school), which I think is the transcript from when I went there. And then there is another transcript above that, which doesn’t say unofficial but is still entered in. So i have three transcripts listed and two are unofficial…is this what the whole unoffical transcript thing everyone has been talking about supposed to look like? Or has uw not even gotten to that yet…?

What does the unofficial transcript look like once its loaded to those of you who do have it??

sorry if I’m being confusing!

Unofficial transcript I see looks something like this:

@rothmane, thats not the transcript youre supposed to have uploaded. thats transcript they got from your school, not the one they have for you that is a ‘uw transcript.’ what you should see when you open the unofficial transcript link is what maxxwell has put up, and its on a completely separate page. also keep in mind that your transcript will NOT load until your status becomes ‘your application has been REVIEWED.’

Why my status said " we have recieved…" but said the date is Feb.22nd? why, don’t they update the status everyday? Why today it still says " The status of your application to the UW Seattle was last updated on February 22, 2010"???

ooh okay thanks I get it!
