… if ever, then just in us psychos.

hey guys, do yo uhave any idea of what i should write about in my appeal?

If I were you, I would call admission office and seek their input. I would also talk to the school counselor get her/his input.

Do you have any idea why you were denied admission? Your stats look good, you say you wrote good essays & EC. Do you think your school counselor put something that was viewed negatively?

I have no idea what they accept as part of your appeal but things that come to mind are:
[ol]
[] A letter explaining why you want to go to UW and why you deserve to be admitted.
[] Recommendation letter from another teacher.
[] Recommendation letter from one of your classmates or a friend from school.
[] Something that highlights your ECs.
[/ol]

Wish you good luck!

I really don’t think a recommendation will make a big difference… I know I wouldn’t be surprised to read your friend write pleasant things about you. S/he you’re friend after all.

Here are my suggestions for you, and to anyone who takes action to appeal:

1) Most importantly!! Obviously your personal statement didn’t get through to them. They did not feel who you really are and how much you really want UW. Think of this appeal as a personal statement you are writing for the very first time. Sit down, really think about why you want to go to UW and not another college, then draft. Then review and edit it like an English professor correcting term papers for the next two weeks. Have others critique it too. When you have others look at it, it is very important that you ask such questions as “What more can I add? Am I missing anything? Are there errors of any sort? Is it convincing? etc.” Although this is an appeal and your sole objective is to make them want you, be yourself. Pour out YOUR reasons of why you want to attend UW, release YOUR attitude and belief of UW, and present YOUR reason why the reconsideration of your application is not a waste of time. There are many other minuscule acts, but I consider these most crucial. Although there is a limit to three pages, make sure the appeal is concise. Because honestly, if I was a admission officer, I wouldn’t want to read a three page long petition letter. The ability to create a concise petition is also a skill which admission officers will be greatly impressed with. Lastly, don’t forget to sign the letter!

2) If you had supplied your UW application with recommendation letters, obtain letters from different people this time. Teachers, supervisors, church/community leaders, or neighbor-just anyone that knows you well. Specifically let the person know that you are appealing to UW because YOU really want to be there autumn 2010 (or whatever term you have chosen). It wouldn’t even hurt to construct a brief outline of what you want your “recommender” to say. Right? Also, it’s better to have a single letter that praises you from beginning to end, than to have three that are mediocre.

3) Send your latest transcript. This is a requirement.

4) Here is more information on writing a petition: [Guidelines for Special Admission and Appeal — Decision — Freshman — Apply — University of Washington](http://admit.washington.edu/Apply/Freshman/Decision/SpecialAdmissions)

I hope everyone hears good news soon and I hope this will serve some help. Ah, this is my first time writing such a long message Good luck!

Great ECs, OK essays-probably my weakness because I was in a hurry to get it in early.

Thought that sending in the application by the priority deadline it would help to get in earlier…but it doesn’t feel like it did at this point.

My S status said “We received…” since December 10 … we figured he got rejected since it’s been so long. He applied Nov.14. Today (March 17) it changed to “We have reviewed …Will inform you by mail.” When he clicked on Unofficial Transcript, a page loaded with a UW student number, his college (Engineering) and major (Engineering) listed, among other items. We hope this means he will get an acceptance letter soon???

Yes, I think so. Congratulations!

One of my friends said that her status changed to reviewed on Feb 20-something, but she has not received a letter or can view her unofficial transcript. Is this bad news for her?

she might be rejected or put on waitlist.

Application reviewed and transcript uploaded yesterday. Engineering. Woo!

@cirujano

What are you stats? Are you instate?

My status has been “we have received…” for HELLLLA long, i applied in late last year. My status changed on March 17th, it says “we have reviewed…” and my unofficial transcript loaded, i can see my student ID and everything! Does this mean i’m in? or can i still be rejected?

Really, All we have to do is just WAIT !
After 4 months, my application got reviewed today March 16th.
I should chek the mail soon,
For those who are waiting, it shouldn’t be any longer… Good luck :]
