What is your definition of partying?

is it a party without alcohol?

if anyone has ever seen the video for "i love college" by asher roth, is that the typical college party?

I hope so… especially people dressing up as the mascots.

Uh, most college parties have alcohol at them, but there are also plenty of people who have alcohol-free parties. Both kinds can be really fun with the right people.

And no, typical college parties are not like the Asher Roth video. I’ve been to parties like that, but they were mostly theme/costume/halloween parties, not the typical Friday/Saturday night house/frat party.

lol i just went and looked up that video and I can say I’ve been to a couple parties like that. They are rare but they do happen. The biggest reasons college students throw down: Halloween, last weekend before finals, first weekend back to school, birthdays.

I can pretty much say I’ve never been to a party where there wasn’t alcohol. But just because it’s there doesn’t mean you have to drink it, or drink it to excess if you do decide to. I’ve forgone drinking at parties on more than one occasion, such as if I drank alot the night/weekend before, or if I’m the dd, or sometimes if I just dont feel like it… or I’ll just have like one drink, and that’ll be it for the night.

The typical party among my friends: beer pong in one room, drinking games in the kitchen by the bar, jello shots in the fridge, dancing in the living room, smoking on the porch/patio/balcony (also where the keg and cooler full of hunch punch can be found). Number of people depends, sometimes it’s like 20, sometimes it’s 100+… we like to get crunk. The police usually show up at some point if it’s big, unless it’s at one particular friend’s apartment, they’ve only had the popo show up once and that was last fall when there were seriously at least 150 people in this one three bedroom apartment (and on the balcony, and on the stairs outside, and on the 2nd floor balcony down below…).

You’re sooo cool.

lol, I wasn’t trying to brag, don’t be a jerk. I was just giving an example. I think me and my friends are pretty typical college partiers.

as long as the place has a dance floor and good music, it’s a party to me. :)

yeah, pretty much every party that’s in a dorm, a house, or a frat has alcohol. I can’t think of any that don’t. But parties that are sponsored by the university are usually dry. But the Asher Roth video is a little exaggerated. He portrays college parties as everyone getting wasted and every guy bringing home two random girls. It’s not quite like that.

Here are what frat parties are like at my college.
If they’re open, five bucks for guys, free for girls
Or they might have a list but if you know a brother, you can usually work your way around that.
Or they’re socials that a fraternity will have with a sorority but I’m not in a frat so I haven’t been to any of those.

When you get inside, there is usually a bar area where they are serving beer. It’s usually Keystone or Natural Ice or Blue Light. There is usually a room where there are pong tables and there’s usually a dance floor.

On the dance floor, the music is blasting, a lot of people are grinding. The party is usually busiest between 12:30 and 1:30. By 2 A.M., the dance floor starts to clear and I usually see a few couples making out. I’m sure some of them end up sleeping together later that night. But it’s not like, every night you go out, you’ll get laid.

Using colored paperclips. Wild!

In Utah, they play Beer Pong with root beer.

beer games, dancing, girls

PittsburghLoser, that **** was funny. I coughed up my Drumstick.

Partying = having fun with at least a few other people

jsulit’s definition is pretty accurate. house parties are pretty similar but there are always a bunch of people milling around outside on the porch or back patio drinking and smoking cigarettes (and sometimes weed). girls won’t have to pay $5 for a cup at a frat party, but sometimes you’ll need to pay at a house party, and there’s usually a keg (or two…or three) rather than cans of beer.

Partying = gathering of people with alcohol.
