What is your favorite thing about Vandy?

Hi! I'm a rising senior in California and Vanderbilt is my first-choice school. I am so in love with its beautiful campus, hard-working-but-party-hardy student body, spectacular reputation, and of course, its southern charm.

But I was wondering of Vanderbilt students, parents of students, alums, or anyone else: What is your favorite thing about Vanderbilt? Your least favorite? Why? (I asked on this on the LJ community "vanderbrats" once before, too.)

I would also appreciate if anybody wanted to tell me my chances of admission. Here are my stats:

I am a white female from an extremely competitive private school in Southern California. There are about 100 kids in my graduating class. My school does not rank.

GPA: 3.9 unweighted
SAT I: 2080; 610M 670V 800W (I am taking it again, trying to get the math
up; but I want to major in english/writing anyway)
SAT IIs: 730 bio, 630 math, 700 french, 700 US history
APs: European History 5, US History 4, English Language 5, Biology 5 (Next year I will also be taking French AP and Studio Art AP, as well as Honors English, Investments [a class that has to be applied for], and I have already completed math through Calculus AB.)

Extracurriculars:
Captain of the varsity water polo team
Varsity swim team
Cross country B-team (out of A, B, and C)
Manager of the varsity football team
Statistician of the varsity boys' basketball team
Senior leader (basically, teacher's aid) for 10th grade American Literature
Teen leader/teacher's aid at my church's Sunday School classes
Summer camp counselor for 2 years
Quite a bit of babysitting experience :)
Student Senate "morning meeting" (a weekly school event) planning committee and one of three MCs
500+ hours of community service

I will have very strong recommendations and quite a good essay, and I believe I will impress in an interview. :)

Thanks for your responses!

As a parent, I am totally amazed at the caring faculty and their involvement with their students. I couldn't believe how they pitched in this past year.

Two negatives as far as I can see: housing. Some of the rooms are way too small for two people. The other negative is relative--cost, but you get what you pay for.

Good luck. You will love Nashville.

great academics (excellent professors, small classroom sizes)

great social life (hot girls, great parties, etc.)

beautiful campus

what i like: balance. great academics + great parties = awesome four years

what i don't like: greeks galore (although from what I've heard, the greek scene has been diminishing over the past decade or so)
