What is your go to recipe?

Is it the lake house special??

I love poppers, too. Sometimes, to simplify the process, I use Costco’s Artichoke & Jalapeño dip for the filling to save time/tedium. It’s delicious.

Yes it is. I’ve never served this to one guest, or friend of kids that don’t love it or look forward to it. Believe it or not.

@conmama Going to a cottage this weekend. This will be on my list to bring.

Have you ever used turkey pepperoni?

You know, I think I did once when I couldn’t find the regular. I think you’ll be fine. But please, make the dressing exactly as I wrote, even the sugar, just once. That way if you want to do it differently, you’ll know the difference,

@conmama that was so nice of you to share here. I’m guessing it will become a CC favorite as well. If I make it I will always think of you!

@bjscheel I feel like the family member who makes a good deviled egg has their place in the family SECURED. Nothing like a good deviled egg! They always disappear!

It really looks great! I am getting the ingredients and making it for dinner tomorrow. Thank you for sharing it!

I can also tell that the sugar is a welcome element in the flavor profile. It looks like it works well to balance the briny/salty olives and pepperoni as well as counteracting the acid in the vinegar.

I don’t have a go to recipe because we always bring my husband’s baklava.

It tends to be a bit moister than store bought baklava - his secret is that he uses a mix of nuts that include pecans instead of the walnuts that were in his Mom’s recipe (from Yugoslavia) or the pistachios that you typically see in the Middle East.

I’m known for doing a great charcuterie so that is usually my go to. I also make a pretty mean chocolate chip cookie if I need to bring dessert.

Choatiemom reminded me of the dish I got asked to bring to every department baby or wedding shower. (Doesn’t really count as a recipe.) Pinwheel sandwiches made all from Costco products. Spread the artichoke jalapeño dip on large flour tortillas, layer with turkey or ham lunch meat, sliced cheese (I like the jarlesburg), romaine lettuce. Roll up and wrap the whole log tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. Slice and serve. And yes, the lettuce does stay crisp. Makes Lots!

My predictive spelling wanted to change jarlesburg to “jar lesbians”, and I don’t even know what to say about that…
ETA, well because I was spelling it wrong in the first place. Jarlesburg.

For risk of looking stupid. When you wrote ’ 1. Make all ingredients, especially the pasta, the day before and let chill all night. Next day I mix them all together before serving.’

Did you mean make pasta, mix with all ingredients then refrigerate? Did you also mean add dressing to ingredients when you refrigerate? Which parts refrigerate?

Thanks

I agree! But, I’m going to call it the, @conmama special instead of the lake house special!

And these will now be dubbed, “jar lesbian roll ups.” :joy::joy::joy:

Hope I’m not being offensive! Not my intent!

I hope you love it. It’s important at least the pasta have one night to chill. Makes it nice and cold and firm.

This is what I do.

  1. Always make the pasta the day before and refrigerate. That is in its own container.

  2. Try to prepare all the other, too, but that’s not as important if you don’t have time. It just makes it nice and chilled. When I do that, I put everything together in one container EXCEPT the cubed cheese, Parmesan cheese and dressing.

  3. I make the dressing the day of, put in a container and refrigerate for a couple hours until mixing right before serving. I’ve tried doing it the day before but the olive oil solidifies in the frig.

  4. Right before serving, I mix everything together in a huge mixing bowl. I like to do it with no one around because you’ll have to separate the pasta a bit, along with the pepperoni quarters. They stick together something awful. Since I use my fingers, I do this when others are not around.

Hope that helps, let me know if it doesn’t.

that sounds great!

You know what @Hoggirl , that’s what I’m going to name it, too. When guests ask for the recipe, I’m going to say it’s the Lake House special and you have to visit to be served it! It’s a secret!

Watch….now everyone here will say “eh, it’s alright”. LOL.

This sounds great! But as for “eh, it’s alright” future reviews, I will point out that it calls for Hormel Pepperoni. We tried another brand pepperoni when we couldn’t find Hormel and it was super hot and just plain terrible. All brands are not created equal.

Muhammara spread with crackers/bread/veggies…Goskids inhale and it’s also easy, make-ahead, GF, dairy free…only sensitive group is that it does contain walnuts.

Pardon my ignorance.

What is Muhammara spread?
