Hi, I'm a sophomore in college and I still have no idea what my career should be. I'm thinking of going to math and science career like engineer and technology, but I haven't make up my mind. The medical career is still a factor in my career decision. So guys, what is your major and career and why you choose it? Thanks.

Chemistry with a minor in Physics. I’m planning to go into research, possibly for Material science but it’s still too early to tell.

I choose this path because I have a passion for Chemistry. One does not go into chemistry research for the money ;)

I am stuck between compE and electrical engineering, i hope to work someday in the electronic entertainment industry.

i will more than likely choose Computer Eng. but I need to be 100% sure.

Major: CS and ME
Future Career: I don’t know yet. Something that’s more on the hands-on side of engineering. Having to work behind a computer in a cubicle…not my cup of tea. But that’s probably more realistic. I’d at least like a cubicle next to the water fountain. Then I could fill my squirt gun up easier and shoot my colleagues in the back of the head.

Major: Neuroscience and genetics minor
I’m interested in researching neurological and genetic disorders; either I’ll become a neurologist and treat those disorders and do clinical trials, or go for an advanced degree in neurobio, do research and not go into medicine. I’m leaning toward the MD because I can interact with patients and help people directly rather than be in a lab all day. And actually i’m getting lazy so who knows, maybe I’ll just keep working for $8/hr in the bakery and sell muffins until I die. Ahh well

Don’t worry too much about job prospects now, just keep working hard and doing what you like, and it’ll all come together in the end, you’ll figure it out. But if you wanna do Engineering, wouldn’t you already be doing that major? You just said math/science so I wasn’t sure what you meant.

And btw Platts, that sounds really hard…didn’t you say once you wanted to work for NASA? that’s pretty neat.

Major: Psychology and neuroscience

I’m torn between my two loves of psycholinguistics and psychopharamacology… either way, it’s research for me

Public Policy with a minor in economics.

I plan on starting my own real estate development/ construction company. Although I do plan on getting a JD I dont want to practice law, more of a lobbyist :p. My life dream is to become a US congressman I have always love history , politics , and have helped my dad run his business

I’ve changed plans so many times, but am pretty set with this one:

Majoring in Health Education
Work as a Community Health Educator for ~2yrs (Saving Money)
Send myself to Culinary school (Would have gone this route first, but already 2yrs into college, rather just finish)
Become a private chef or work in a restaurant
Open up a cafe

;o

Major: Nursing

I plan to work as either a pediatric or NICU nurse. I have always been interested in the medical field, and felt that with nursing, I could provide care to patients while also getting to know them and interact with them on a personal basis. Also with a nursing career, I will still be able to volunteer for my town’s emergency squad as an EMT.

My major is graphic design, future career is famous graphic designer. (;

I chose to major in graphic design because I am incredibly passionate in art and designing images on computer.

Biology and Management.
I hope to go into the business aspects of the biotech industry.

Major: CS

Hopeful Future Career: Programmer [if possible, an AI related job, otherwise just programming something somewhere!]

Why: I love programming. If you haven’t tried it, and you’re interested in Engineering/Technology stuff, I suggest you do.

Russian with a minor in Arabic or middle eastern studies. (Was Arabic minoring in Russian but I am having issues getting into an arabic class) Also getting a business certificate thing.

My dream job is to work for the FBI/CIA/NSA in counterterrorism or violent crimes.

Major: Applied Math

Future career: Strategic weapons design.

Why: If I can’t be part of the solution, then at least I’ll be part of the problem.

Environmental chemistry. Don’t really have any lofty career goals other than to maybe be a forensic scientist or investigator of some sort.

Major: Accounting
Future Career: The Big 4! That’s my dream. Otherwise, this major has alot of demand and you get paid well.

Major: Exercise Science
Future Career: athletic trainer/personal trainer/nutritionist/physiotherapist/dietition/first aid team on a sports team/team manager or something like that, the reason why I’m majorring in this and why I wanna pursue a career in these fields is because I am a total health freak and am passionate about keeping my body in good condition, I am also a huge fan of sports and enjoy watching sports. I also love to help the people who need the help in these fields out which is why I guess I think I’d do well in this job field.

Major: Communications

Future Career: My dream is to work in television production, but because of where I live I have a feeling there’s just not going to be a big demand for it So I’m just going to see what I can get, and as long as I get to work in a production studio I’ll be fine. I’ll probably go into broadcasting for awhile, since that would be a little bit more realistic.

Reasons: I watch too much TV and have fallen in love with it. I watch shows knowing that I can write just as good of plots, and I’m also really interested in working post-production as well. I just want to be behind the scenes, helping to create something millions will see and love(well, hopefully they would, lol).

Major: Undecided
Future Career: Undecided

;)

My major is communications. I want to get into television production and become a producer one day. I’m also minoring in Marketing to give me a business perspective to production. I’m also minoring in East Asian studies because I love Japan. Want to become fluent in the language and who knows what type of job opportunities that could provide.
