I am not a morning person to say the least. Things are always so hectic and crazy in the morning for me, and i always put off getting up until the last possible second. Maybe some of you who have it all together in the mornings can help me out. What are your daily morning routines and what are your means for actually getting up and staying awake once out of bed?

Thanks soo much, w/ break ending shortly, i want to start off the new semester on the right foot.

I roll out of bed pretty early -- at least two hours before I have to actually leave the house. The reason? Let's just say, "regularity." A big bowl of All-Bran, several tall glasses of water, and a couple of cigarettes does wonders in the early morn, but it takes time for their full effect to be had.

well considering lately i've been waking up AFTER homeroom starts (and i live 30 minutes away from school without traffic and we have blocked schedule)
i have about 1.5 hours to get ready since it doesnt really matter if i come at the beginnng of 1st period or within the last ten minutes... so i just take my time.

lol, all last semester I would wake up after 3 snoozes on the alarm, get dressed (in about three minutes) throw on some makeup if I'm feeling especially motivated and leave.
the alarm is set for 8 and I left around 8:25 for my 9:00 class. I had a half hour drive, which I ended up having to do in 20 minutes whenever I slept late (which was often).
I really hate waking up.

I've set general guidelines for what I'm supposed to be doing at specific times that I try my best to follow. It doesn't always happen, but it's the best method I've found so far. This would be an ideal (i.e. everything happens according to schedule) morning for me:

06:00
I wake up. I drink some water, get in the shower, and wash my hair.

06:30
I get out of the shower, get dressed, dry (and occasionally straighten) my hair, and do my makeup.

07:00
I go downstairs and have breakfast, then come back upstairs, brush my teeth, and make sure I have everything I need for school.

07:30
I get in the car and leave.

What that means is that if it's 07:20 and I'm still not in the shower, I know I have a problem, and will need to make up for those 20 minutes by cutting corners elsewhere. I'm embarrassed to admit I've put this much thought into planning my morning routine, but it's the only way I can get to school without being ridiculously late.

6:00 - wake up
6:05-6:20- get dressed, wash face, eyeliner, hair
6:20-6:40- breakfast
6:40-6:50-brush teeth, gather school stuff
6:50 --drive to school

cameliasinensis, great post..those are the types of ideas i need to get motivation to plan a routine of my own.
Thanks, and keep them coming guys. Maybe we can all help each other in making our mornings even just a little bit more pleasant with all these new ideas and routines.

5:30- Wake up
5:30-5:45- Get dressed, fix hair, check news
5:45-6:15- Breakfast, newspaper
6:15-6:25- Wash face, brush teeth
6:30- Gather stuff
6:40- Go to bus stop

620 alarm goes off
622 get up and set alarm for 630
630 alarm goes off
631 get up and set alarm for 640
640 alarm goes off. i have to get up now or im screwed.
642 get in shower
650 get out of shower
657 better be done dressing/shaving/deodorizing/etc
7 start breakfast
710 go brush teeth
715 load up backpack
718 out the door
725 get into calc class

(sometimes i have motivation to get up at 630 which loosen the sched a little)

6:30 Alarm goes off; hit snooze
6:39 Alarm goes off again; turn it off
6:45 Someone comes in to wake me up
6:47-6:55 Shower
6:55-7:00 Put on clothes (picked them out the night before)
7:00-7:05 Eat breakfast (bagel, orange juice)
7:05-7:10 Brush teeth, makeup if I'm awake enough, rake my fingers through my hair because I'm too tired to dry it and pretty apathetic, get crap together, remember things I'm supposed to remember

for me:
6:30 to 6:50 I wake up (I've never had to use an alarm clock tho, I automatically wake up around that time. Wierd, i know.)
7:00 shower
7:10 stare at myself in the mirror for a while to decide if i look ****ty ehough for makeup. If so:
7:10-7:20 eyeliner, blush, and mascara
If not, then I just go downstairs for breakfast.

I think it's easier to get up in the morning if you know you're going to eat something you really like for breakfast. The smell of cinnamon buns is usually enough to lure me out bed
