What is your package like?

@AvPsychologyGirl classes. Are not often cancelled at UConn Storrs because of snow…unless it’s a big storm. Most of the students don’t have to drive there.

Your CC probably cancelled classes more often.

And the last two winters have been very mild ones here in terms of snow. That is not a guarantee for this year…or next.

AvPsy. that is going to be a healthy commute for you. 55mins one way is probably about as long as you would want. Much more than that and it would be difficult.

It will definitely prepare you for the real world here in MA. I commuted to college also and I was deep into the routine of waking up and driving to my destination each morning. It was great practice. I did not miss a beat once I started working.

Best of luck to you. I think UCONN is a great choice.

@thumper1 actually no, my cc never cancelled class. it was the county that mandated the classes to get cancelled due to safety hazard. If anything I could always take the bus, its only $10 from my house to Uconn. Why is everyone so against me going to Uconn. All of these problems are going to arise regardless of what college I go to.

Thank you for the support. It seems like Im not receiving it from anyone it else.

Your initial post made it sound like you were not sure this college was affordable to you.

If you don’t mind the commute, and you have the money to pay for UConn, then fine…no problem.

But if that is the case…what was your question in your first post on this thread?

Sorry if my posts came across as not supportive. I did try to wish you the best.

My original question was that about how my amount seemed small for a university and I was wondering was it normal for a university to give that amount. Then part two of the question was, what other peoples package was like?

As long as your package covers YOUR costs, really, that’s all, that matters.

You still have a few other pending applications, right…Smith, Briandeis. Why not wait and see where your net costs land at each school.

Yes that’s what Im doing. Im waiting on the other schools.

Yes. we did seem to get a bit off track from those.

My answer would be that it is unusual for out of state people to receive what you did. I think you got a good deal from UCONN.

Your situation is rather unique and I am not sure if someone can come on and let you know what they received.

If you are in MA, Westfield State U would be a good choice for psychology and much cheaper, especially if you could commute.it has a good reputation in the region. Since you plan on attending grad school, it would be a good idea to minimize lians for undergrad

@mamag2855 Even if i wanted to, I can’t apply to anymore schools. All the deadlines have already closed.

The deadlines have passed for spring admission, but not for fall 2017.

Yes but i want to transfer in for spring. I couldn’t imagine taking a break for a year. My plan was spending a semester at uconn and then apply to my dream schools for fall 2017 (tufts, northeastern, Brandeis) and if i don’t get accepted, then stay there.

Wait…are you saying you are applying to UConn from a CC…and then are planning to transfer AGAIN after just one semester at UConn?

Finances aside…this is NOT a good plan. Too many transfers.

If you want to complete your degree at UConn…then transfer there. If not, I would suggest you wait and apply to,schools where you plan to finish your degree for fall 2017 (if you do not get accepted to Brandeis as a spring admit).

@thumper1: The last two years have been very mild in terms of snow? Did Western Mass not receive the record snows that Central and Eastern Mass did during the '14-15 winter?

@Waiting2exhale if this student lives near Storrs…he or she lives in the eastern part of the state.

I live in the western part. Both the 2015-2016 and 2014-2015 winters were very snow mild in this area. Most of the bigger storms were coastal storms…not inland ones.

I did a search for distance using Northampton, MA and Storrs, CT, and the student may well live in the western part (given the desire for Smith, and how that would be the most desired I used Northampton).

Holy Cross and WPI area were pummeled by bad weather that winter. Not coastal.

@Waiting2exhale Yes i live in western Mass

HC and WPI are further north.

Really…in this neck of the woods…the snow totals were very small the last two winters. Honestly! I live here!

We had NO snow days last year…and only a couple the year before.
