What is YOUR strategy for the ACT Reading

Are there any strategies YOU use on the ACT reading?

Uh usually i scan the questions for line numbers and mark them on the passage. Then I just blow right through the passage, then I answer the questions. I usually skip prose fiction and do that last, cause i suck at it. I guess my method sucks ass though, cause I usually don’t finish on time, and I get around a 31 or a 32. ■■■, like seriously.

EDIT: Can somebody suggest a possibly better method or possible improvements?

Can someone suggest ways to shave off time?

I usually scan the line numbers and mark them on the passage accordingly. Then I read the passage paragraph by paragraph and refer back to the questions. I usually score pretty high with this method (35/36) but I’m usually cutting it really close with time.

I just read the passage through quickly, looked at the questions, then looked back at the reading to find support in the passage for every answer I marked down. Got a 36 on the Reading, but I suppose you have to be able to read very quickly to use that strategy.

Read each paragraph and write 2-3 words about what the paragraph just said. Forces you to think in a holistic manner while making sure you are jogging your memory on important details in the paragraph to formulate your 2-3 words. Become proficient at this method, and it is almost foolproof in getting a high score while cutting massive amounts of time (I will finish with 8-10 minutes at the end to check over answers). However, cutting time is also dependent on how fast you read, so I would practice reading some upper level material and find a pace where you can understand the material but get done quickly.
