To all the students with high GPAs: What types of organization do you guys use for your separate subjects? Do you use one huge binder for all of your subjects, or smaller individual ones? What do you take your notes on: looseleaf paper or in a designated notebook?

It depends on the subject really.

And it also depends on what my teacher wants.

Freshman year I had to have one separate 2" binder just for science. Then I had to have another 2" binder for English and Health because those 2 teachers allowed us to share. Then I had a separate 1" binder for Algebra.

Sophomore year I had one separate 1" binder for Geometry, then I had another for all the other subjects because the teachers allowed us to share, but I had separate notebooks for all the subjects.

Last year I had one binder with a bunch of different dividers in it for English, Spanish and Algebra, and I also had separate notebooks for APUSH, Algebra II and Spanish.

I really prefer taking notes in notebooks. It's too easy to lose a sheet of loose-leaf paper.

a folder and a notebook for every subject. and a really, really good planner.

Oh yes, I forgot about that. Planners are a MUST. Sometimes my school sells them and sometimes they don't, so this year I'm just going to buy one from Barnes & Noble or something.

This year I'll probably have one big 2" or so binder for all my subjects since I'm only taking 3 academic classes (I'm taking a lot of electives this year), and then I'll do really nice spiral notebooks for everything.

I actually just use folders and keep all the big binders at home, so when I'm done with a unit I just leave all the work associated with that in my closet. I also have a "one book" rule -I only carry one textbook at a time, even if my next class needs a different book and I don't stop by my locker. Gotta keep that back straight =)

Every subject has one binder, each a different color. Each binder has a certain # of dividers (syllabus, notes, hw, tests, etc). i personally do not like notebooks, because if you run out of paper, you have to start a new notebook, and many times about half the notebook is used before you don't need it anymore, wasting a lot of paper (yes, i am an environmental-nut). with looseleaf in a binder, you can add paper, take paper away, etc.

one planner

one of those accordian folder file things, so when finals are over, i put all my old, unimportant material in the accordian folder, so i start fresh every term (unless it's something like math where i need my old stuff).

i used to combine some subjects in a big binder, but it got annoying because some teachers insisted that their subject has its own binder, and other times a friend had to borrow my binder for one subject, taking the other subject along, preventing me from getting some hw done. also, if i have hw in just two subjects one night, i don't want to have to lug home 4 subjects.

i basically copied my sisters method when i started highschool, and it's worked perfectly since.

lol my papers are lucky if they end up in a single duotang. for the most part they get mixed together in one of those 1 subject notebooks or something that doesn't have any pockets. surprisingly, i've gotten straight As my entire life and never lose papers.

I have 2 folders (because 1 won't fit all the papers i have) and a planner. HW and handouts go in the folder. If I need to take notes, I write them on looseleaf and transfer them into a spiral notebook at home (only because I don't have a locker yet and it's a hassle to carry 5 notebooks around). Works pretty well for me.

I have about 3 folders, 3 notebooks and 5 folders just in case. A very unartsty /squarish backpack thats easy to organize and navigate as it has only 3 pockets for easy organization. I have a personal plannerbook which i now use for everything as I refuse to use the schools stupid-as-heck planner and the only reason im not going to burn it is because i need it to write out passes to go out during study hall

I'm an ocd freak when it comes to these things... it doesn't matter what I'm using, so long as it's perfectly organized.

I have a binder for every two classes and one homework folder. I have this weird thing about NOT using a planner(i think i'm slipping mentally if i can't remember everything.) I would recommend one though for most people.

And a lovely tote bag. <3

I use 2 5-subject spiral notebooks, and two plastic folders.

The sad part is I only really know which type of notebook I should be using after a few weeks into the course...which doesn't exactly help for preparation. Like people have said, these organization things depend a lot on the subject. I've been known to rely a lot on three-ring binders as a default.

i use binders for all my subjects except the pass/fail ones (health, drivers ed, etc.) and math because i find it easier to do math problems in a book where you can fold the covers back (but that's just me personally).

i use a graphing paper notebook for math, and a 1" binder for all my subjects (with pocket dividers to put loose stuff in). Then for paper I just mooch off everyone else.

works for me :D

i cannot stand to carry around a lot of crap at school, so for the teachers that actually require me to carry a binder for that particular subject (which is ********, anyways, I mean come on I'm not in third grade I don't need them to tell me how to organize my stuff anymore) then I just leave that binder at home and bring it only on the days they grade it.

loose leaf binders and a folder for each subject unless told to do otherwise.

Last year, all I had was a single 1 subject notebook (had to replace the notebook every month, lol). All my notes, homework, and classwork would go in it. I kept loose paper in folders (different folder for each class). Locating things was a breeze for me. Also, I didn't use a planner and just remembered the homework. I got by fine and virtually never missed a homework assignment.

This year, I'm getting a separate notebook and folder for each class because I doubt a single notebook will last very long. My APUSH teacher is mandating that we have a binder. I HATE binders though (they take up room and I find putting papers in a pain). I may get a moleskine planner for homework.

Since I carry my backpack all day, I try to keep the weight light.

This question utterly depends on the teacher.......................
For my personal perference, i like to use my own agenda than our schools.

I stuff them in my notebooks wherever they fit. I never lose anything.

One binder, with dividers for five subjects - english, math, science, social studies, and latin. A general folder for current homework. looseleaf paper stocked in the binder.

and I clean it out regularly, I cna't deal with disorganization.
