What is your Time Allotment for each part of a CR section?

So what is yours? Here is mine

Sentence Completion: 2-4mins (2 mins for the 5,6 questions sections and 4 mins for the 8 questions section)<-Is this okay?

Short passages: 5 mins (no matter how hard I try, I hardly can shorten the time for these small passages. Sometimes especially for the small paired passages, they even take me 7 mins to complete)

Long passages: 15-20 mins depending on the level of difficulty, which means sometimes I cannot finish the section on time.

This time allotment barely gives me any time to review, even for an easy section. So, again, what is your time providing for each part? Any suggestion of improvement?

You can’t really allot time to a certain section IMO. I just work have to work quickly. And spending 15-20 minutes on any passage is wasting to much time.

@tola2015‌ So what would be a reasonable time to spend on each passage?

I don’t actually read the passages. I go straight to the questions. First I skip, the question on what is the main idea because for the most part that question would require me to actually read the whole passage ( I do that one after I answer every question because by then you should have a gist about what the passage is about).

I can’t really say what a reasonable time would be all I can say is to read the sentences required for the question and a few sentences before and after it.

You have to realize that you only have 25 minutes to answer 5-8 Sentence completion questions and read 3-4 passages that range from short to long. The faster you can get through the sentence completion questions (I usually finish these within 3-6 minutes) the more time you have to try and get all the passage based questions correct. I usually spend <3 minutes on the short passages. This would leave you with about 19 minutes for the long passages. If you can read through each long passage and answer each of the questions within 6-7 minutes you will have at least 5 minutes remaining to check your answers. Make sure you star any questions your not 100% sure about so that those will be the first ones you review.

I can’t say I have a strategy for critical reading because I have never actually studied for it. I read ALOT of books so CR ended up being my best section (720) when I took it in May.
