Mine's 20/100, but I think it's degrading now because I'm like wearing glasses to read textbooks now. I don't really care though, since I trust that technology in the future will be able to restore eyesight to even blind patients (it's already being tested). Of course there's LASIK, but that doesn't correct the internal structure of the eye that is responsible for myopia (this changed internal structure may increase chances of retinal detachment).

Since I'm obviously not in h.s., I usually don't post here, but am now because I think my viewpoint may be helpful.

I was a high myope (-6, vision 20:200) who got Lasik in Feb. and now have 20:20 in both eyes. All high myopes are at risk of retinal detachment whether or not they have Lasik.

However, the risk of retinal detachment due only to Lasik for anyone is very minimal and from what I can tell, appears to be related to the extent of one's myopia. For instance, "Retinal detachment can occur as a result of LASIK, typically in the highly myopic, but this is a rare complication. In a study of more than 1,500 LASIK patients, just four suffered retinal detachment; their pre-LASIK prescriptions ranged from -8.00 D to -27.50 D.:

I'd worn glasses since I was 2 years old, and the difference in my vision now is amazing. What particularly has been impressive is how I can now do things like park easily. I also can see behind me when I back up (With glasses, I had no peripheral vision, and couldn't swivel my head 90 degress to see behind me), which makes me a much safer driver.

20/70 - must have been all the studying I did and all the time I spend in front of the computer. 16hr/day on a computer during the weekends, 4hr/day on a computer when I have 5hr of homework.

-3.50 for both but i know theyve probably gotten worse since i play too many computer games and stay fixated at the screen for like 5 hours straight >.<

I've always been the worst I've ever known, until I came on here! :)

-6.75 right eye, -7.00 left eye, contacts. I love my contacts! I've wore glasses from age 4 or 5 to age 13. I'm def. getting LASIK or some other comprable procedure once I turn 18. Actually, I think my vision has degenerated a bit more (it steadily decreases at a rate of about -.25 a year) because I've had a lot of trouble focusing lately.

Only 1 and half more years until I can see clearly at all times of day!
