what jobs are you guys planning to get with your majors??

Heey I was just curious what job/career you guys are trying get with your majors?

Im doin biological science and hopefully planning to be a doctor

How bout you guys?

I am an economics major leaning towards a career as a financial analyst.

I am an applied math major who would like to work in Cryptography.

what is cryptography? I am a philosophy major with the intent to go into campaign management.

I’m a philosophy major as well, but with the intent of hanging around coffee shops. Though, with a sudden burst of motivation I may consider law school. One day at a time for now.

Any Political Science majors not planning to go to law?

I’ve been thinking about going into it but I’m not sure what I would do with it.

Hah commonism, dont forget you could always start your own religion if being the most educated person at your local coffee shop doesnt work out ;)

Cryptography (or cryptology; from Greek κρυπτός, kryptos, “hidden, secret”; and γράφω, gr

if you ever watch the show numb3rs they have plenty of examples.

While the NSA would be so cool to work for I just can’t live the secret lifestyle. You’ll need to get Top Secret clearance (takes anywhere from weeks to months)

I’m a math/econ major and I’d like to settle as a financial analyst for my pre-MBA job.

well that does sound quite cool :)

I’m a poli sci major who isn’t going to law school. I will most likely try to get my masters and then work in politics or for a government agency/department. I would like to one day teach at a community college also.

I’m a poli sci major at Cal, and I’ve been thinking about postgraduate school, including law. Honestly, right now I feel like I’m wearing out on school. I joined the military after growing tired of school after high school, and it worked out great, so I’ve been thinking about just getting a govt. job after I get my bachelor’s. Plenty of good federal jobs that love ex-military, who have top security clearances, and a degree from Berkeley probably helps. Then I’ll reconsider law or graduate school after I spend a few years in the real work force. Of course if I do that I’ll be about 28 by the time I enter into a graduate program if I’m accepted, but I’m not in a rush to get settled into a permanent career anyway… at least not right now.

biological science, doctor or dentist, leaning toward dental

Dem Bones how do you like the Poli Sci program at Berkeley?

I recently decided that I am going to double major in History and Political Science. They go hand and hand, and I am very passionate about both. I do not know exactly what I want to do with those degrees. But it leaves some choices open for me.

Grad School - Become a professor and a writer in both subjects
Law School - I would like to be a law professor, constitutional law, get into politics.

I also would like to do stuff like work for the History Channel, be a commentator, write columns on the subjects, help reform the education system. There are many possibilities that are out there. My 3 dream jobs are Professor, Senator, Having my own TV show. Hopefully I do all 3.

I’m hoping to transfer to UCLA. I’m a Japanese major, and I’d eventually like to teach at the college/university level and also go into interpretation/translation.

I currently have a director title at a print and online media company. I’m applying to UCLA as Poli Sci, UCB as Media Studies, UCSD Communication. Once graduate I’m going to stay in the same field and try to move up to a VP.

Gender and Women Studies major. There are many things that I could do with this. I would like to work in Politics. I might go to law school. I change my mind every day. :)

I want to double major in Political Science/History and hopefully minor in Middle East/North African Studies wherever I transfer to. I’ve considered law school but really I just want to work for the State Department.

^killerforhire: just curious, but what would you do in the state department? political science and history are both my main interests but the job market concerns me.
