What keeps you goin'?

Church definitely helped me get through basic!

They offer Catholic, Protestant, Muslim, Jewish, a few others, and "free thinkers" services. Protestant is the largest. If you are Protestant, they offer a contemporary, traditional, and one other kind of service.

Sunday worship services have been a "God Send" for our son. He even participates in the music portion of his selected worship service. At Parent's Weekend, we attended a worship service. The "Chaplin" was great and spoke "The Word". As a parent, we are very pleased that many of the cadets have a safe place to go for comfort and /or direction!

My son went on a chaplain's retreat a couple of weekends ago. He said about 250 four degrees attended. Frankly, I doubt there are many colleges of any sort that could get 20% of the freshman class to attend a spiritual retreat. Of course, just having the opportunity to sleep between the sheets was some incentive. There are other Christian organizations that cadets can attend such as Navigators.

Do most cadets attend services at the chapel, or do they go into Colorado Springs? Do the chaplains serve as leaders for all all of the faiths or how does that work?

I'm pretty sure that now most cadets go into the Springs (at least the ones that can drive/get a ride with an upperclassmen). Still, a fair amount stay here, from what I can tell. Also, if I understand this correctly, chaplains have a certain faith that they focus on and specialize in, but they are supposed to also be proficient in leading the other faiths as well. Of course, I may be wrong...

Pretty much, if you can get out, and have the passes to, you will leave. I know I used up my last go passes, and will this time too!

What academy has the most grueling Plebe/1st year?

Academically, Kings Point is the most grueling. They cram everything the other academies do in a year and a half into 11 months. At the end of your Plebe year at KP you will have between 50 and 54 credits while having done all the same regimental stuff.
