What keeps you working?

i'd have to agree with Newby and anovice...almost no one in my school has straight A's (except those that sacrifice everything else and just do homework, and maybe track) and they don't have too many friends or are involved in too many ECs...and don't get me started on aps/honors (we don't have any ap/honors/advanced english...yet all juniors and seniors have the opportunity to take the AP and do really rediculously well on it)

but i just keep going because i know i can do better and it's a personal thing. if i know i can get it, i'll go for it. no peer pressure (as hard as the school is it's really more about helping each other rather than competition...i'm not aware of our school having class rank, and if we do they don't release it) no parental pressure...it's always about me doing better (and when my parents push me it's because i've told them what i want to do and they just want me to achieve it)

so i dont have to study for my finals as hard and worry about them as much as everyone else who is borderline, and if i do have classes that are borderline, i can devote more focus to those particular ones at the end of the semesters.

@ my school, X-, X, and X+ are equal in rank (where X is a letter), and constitute the same point value on a 4.0 gpa scale
