What kind of backpack should I buy?

Hello, I am starting my freshman year of college and was wondering what kinds of backpacks are popular on campus
I am between
Vera Bradley (Not sure if this is “babbyish” for college)
Billabong
Herschel

Does it have a laptop compartment, plenty of storage, and a place where you can store any hot liquids? Is it a reliable brand, preferably backed by a great warranty? If so get it. Most college students won’t notice what backpack you have unless it’s a rolling one, actual backpacking backpack (I had to carry around my 55L pack after I lost my regular backpack. Got a lot of comments on that), or has some weird design.

^ This. If it works and doesn’t fall apart, it’s fine. Any of those would work. The vera bradley ones are distinctive enough that you might get some comments on it.

With a backpack SIZE is key. Avoid the cutesy ones and get something big and durable. North Face, LL Bean, Patagonia, etc are popular for a reason. They’re big and tough. A military-spec one is also a good option.

They have pretty big ones on Jansport’s website that come in cute prints, too.

I had LL Bean backpacks all through the first 12 years of my education and the only reason I got a new one every few years was that I outgrew my old ones. The one I had in kindergarten is still usable. They come in tons of cool prints and many of the ones made for college students and adults have compartments for laptops or tablets, and are very comfortable for walking or biking. They don’t always look as pretty as a Vera Bradley, but they will last.

I love my North Face. It fits everything I need and has a nice laptop compartment.
