I am an incoming freshman and an actuarial science major. I need a new calculator. My professor said it should be able to do trig, exponential, and logarithmic functions. However, I can’t get a calculator that does indefinite integrals and derivatives like the inspire and TI-89. What are suggestions on what I should get? I was thinking about the TI-84 Plus CE, but I’m not sure how it operates. Please give advise!
Calculators that don’t advertise computer algebra system (CAS) capability should be fine. For example, the TI-83 or 84, TI-NSpire (non-CAS), basically any graphing calculator that is permissible on the ACT exam. I used an NSpire throughout high school.
I agree with ^, non-CAS graphing is a well-rounded tool.
