What kind of chance do I have?

I acknowledge that Georgetowns a reach for me, but I'm wondering what kind of shot I have since its one of my favorite schools.

SAT1 Crit reading: 690
Math: 670
Writing: 730

GPA: 3.54 (unweighted, I am in 4 AP classes and 2 honors)

AP scores:
World History: 5
US history: 5
Environmental: 4
English Language: 4
Studio Art : 4

Awards won:
2 scholarships for Art
AP scholar with distinction

Extra curriculars:
-Piano for ten years
-Track and Cross Country (All league in both)
- Executive on youth council, a school community service group
- Academic Tutor for CitySquash, a program that helps economically challenged families send their kids to top boarding schools with squash scholarships and Academic tutoring
-freshman transition leader at school
-art and literary magazine art editor
-art club member
-christian youth organization volunteer

I am also sending a combined art and music supplement which I am extremely confident about that includes a movie of my best artwork in the past year with a recording of myself playing a difficult Mozart piece that lasts almost ten minutes. I know a lot relies on this supplement for me.

What do you think??

Just as a barometer, I had very comparable stats (higher GPA, very slightly lower SATs) and got deferred EA, but don’t let that get you down. Which school are you applying to within Georgetown?

A lot of people from my school applied to Georgetown EA and all got deferred too, even the legacy…its been tough this year!
and i’d go into arts and sciences. I love both the Art and Anthropolgy departments. How about you?

Chancing people after seeing the results of the EA pool is damn near impossible. So many people in Gtown’s 50% range were admitted (including me), and many top students (near perfect scores, best GPAs, TONS of ECs) got deferred.

But anyway, I think you have an OK chance. My test scores were very close to yours (690R, 710M), but your GPA seems low (mine was 3.95 UW). I think GPA played a big role in the Gtown decisions this year.

My advice: DON’T OVERDO IT. It seems like a lot of the deferred EA applicants who seemed destined to be admitted might have really come off way too strong in their app. I approached the process as if I was describing myself to a peer, not an admissions officer. I didn’t write flowery essays - I made my point and moved on. I didn’t talk myself up, rather I just addressed what they wanted to know. A nice big supplement could certainly portray your passion, but maybe try to do so in a more condensed fashion. Again, it’s ultimately up to you and I might be completely wrong… Gtown seems really fickle this year. I’m just saying that you should read your app and if it seems a little too overdone, it probably could be cut down a bit.

thanks for the advice. I already submitted my app though unfortunately.
and congratulations! are you going to georgetown or still sending out some other apps?
