Okay, I'm a little confused. After talking with the dean of admissions at Vanderbilt I know I'm in there (ranked 18th), but according to you guys I can't get into a lot of schools that aren't ranked as well Vand. So what's up? Is there a reason I can get into Vanderbilt but not worse schools?
Also, I can run distance pretty competitively with quite a few of the track teams I have seen at these top schools. I wouldn't be a lead guy freshman year, but by sophomore-junior year I would be pretty high up their rosters. Will a 2160-2200 SAT really hold me back that badly? It is in every school's mid-range.

Some schools are more demanded..like NYU particularly. Although it' ranked #37, it has one of the highest application rates in the country. It's not about great schools anymore, but the demand of these schools.
