man i remember when my computer was the #1 comp on the market like..a year or so ago. :(
you kids with laptops are so lucky.

Currently I have a Dell Laptop and Desktop...but not for long...soon to be:

Fully Loaded 2005 Apple Powerbook G4 15"....mmm...the goodness of Mac...

what are you going to be using it for jaug?

Laptop:
HP dv4030- Pentium M
1.6 ghz
512 ram
100 gig hd

Desktop:
Pentium 4
2.7 ghz
1 gig ram (dual channel)
removable harddrives, from 40 gigs to 200+
256 mb video board (i forget which ati model it is)

Currently building (stripped off a server)
Dual Xeon 2.6 ghz processor
1 gig ram

Currently looking for a good PCI video card since my motherboard for the xeon processors doesn't have an AGP or PCI express slot.

take a look at www.newegg.com

also if you have anyquestions visit this forum: www.computerforum.com

Superior, I plan to be using it for some music composition (while sparse), and other daily computer functions. With the amount of viruses at major universities, I felt that getting a Mac would be safer and my documents more protected.

Mac's also are more durable, and look more stylish (although this is last on the list of reasons to get one). The unveiling and sale of Tiger is another major selling point as Dashboard and Spotlight might be the two best computer programs ever written for a standard OS.

thanks superior child. I can't believe I forgot to search on newegg; that's all I do in piano, look at the clearance section of newegg in piano class. Well I can get a 256 mb PCI video card for less than 100 so thats cool. I'll go to Fry's tommorrow and if they don't have any new cards I'll go order it on newegg.

Newegg=heaven... or hell depending on how you look at it. Do you know when the X2 will be available there?

AMD Athlon XP 2000+
768MB DDR333 RAM
Western Digital 80GB HD w/ 8MB buffer (7200 rpm)
Abit NF7 mobo
Asus V9520 (GeForce FX 5200)

This computer has actually been through a lot. Only the RAM and the CPU have lasted till now without breaking, which was about two and a half years ago. I used to have a GeForce 3 Ti 500, which is so much better than FX 5200. My old WD 80GB HD broke and I had to get a new one. Also, my old mobo (also Abit), with a VIA KT333 chip broke. It turned out that my crappy CPU fan caused my video card to overheat, and the fan on the mobo broke (also causing my old mobo to overheat). I'm not sure why my HD broke, though (it's still usable actually, it just breaks at random times when you're using it).

12" Apple iBook G4

512 MB DDR SDRAM
1.07 GHz PowerPC G4
30 G HD

Oh, I know, compared to some of yours this one's a baby... I love it, though. It's been good to me. :)

I don't know any of these ghz and mb things but on my computer, it says:

Samsung Magic Station MV25

And at the bottom of my screen, it says:

Samsung SyncMaster Magic CX151n

We bought it like a year ago so I guess it's a bit old in this technology world thingee. But it looks cool and flash;)

Superior-
What kind of work does your dad do that requires such a computer? I don't really know any sort of work that would necessitate such a computer (especially the fancy "gaming" video card). Also, just for reference, the RAM is PC5000, not PCI-5000.

perhaps his dad works at madonion or runs a computer fanatic site lol

lol... it is PC-5000... I was looking at a review for something and looked at the PCI slot part and that messed me up.

My dad actually runs a club and multitasks video editing programs and stuff. He doesn't have to pay for the parts (the actual owner of the club does) so money isn't an issue. Since I configured the computer, I just basically maxed out the computer without SLI. Here's actually a list of all my components:

Motherboard: DFI LanParty SLI-DR
Processor: AMD X2
Videocard: asus EN6800
Soundcard: CREATIVE Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum
Power supply: Silverstone ST65ZF Zeus 650 :
Case: Lian Li PC-V1000 plus/PC-V1000B plus
Cd/DVD burners: 2 NEC ND-3520A Black IDE DVD Burner
RAM: 2 gigs OCZ PC-5000 DDR-625
Hard drive: 2 15.4 cheetahs
Cooling: swiftech H20-120 Revision 3a

The computer is so nasty... it takes on anything. too bad I don't always have complete access to it:( I will be getting a similar one for me next year:).

In a few weeks:

Dell Inspiron 6000
Pentium M 1.86 GHz
1280MB PC2-4200 RAM
80 GB HDD
x300 128MB Video

yayyy

But Superior, why the 6800 when you could have gotten a "better" video rendering card? If not that, why the 6800 when you could have gotten a 6800GT or 6800 Ultra. If you went the ATi route, you could look at the X800 Pro, X800 XT, X850 XT, etc. I don't know. It just seems strange to me that you'd make the effort and spend the money on the newest AMD chip, wicked fast harddrives, and huge amounts of fast RAM but only do "ok" in regards to the video card.

Laptop:
Dell Inspiron 600m
1.5 GHz Pentium M

P4 3.2GHz
1GB RAM
200GB HDD
Geforce 6800 video card
DVD +/- dual layer burner
TV Tuner
Windows XP Media Center 04

Self built. :)
